A prototype is a preliminary model of something. Projects that offer physical products need to show backers documentation of a working prototype. This gallery features photos, videos, and other visual documentation that will give backers a sense of what’s been accomplished so far and what’s left to do. Though the development process can vary for each project, these are the stages we typically see:
Proof of Concept
Explorations that test ideas and functionality.
Demonstrates the functionality of the final product, but looks different.
Looks like the final product, but is not functional.
Appearance and function match the final product, but is made with different manufacturing methods.

Risks and challenges
The project was firstly initiated half year ago, and we’ve got over quite a few technical difficulties through the development stages. With achievements recently made, we are glad to say that overall progress has been keeping up with the schedule and we just entered the engineering sample 2 (ES2) stage weeks ago. The next big thing we shall expect is the mass production stage which will take place in April 2018. So far so good for everything and believe we can make it on time. However, as with most innovative projects, there are a few challenges involved. The primary risks we’re facing include:
Caply has packed so many features in a small body. In fact, it’s smaller than most of the wearable camera on the market which certainly increases difficulties for us to output a fully functional Caply without sacrifice any promised features. Especially for Caply to reach the promised 5 hours non-stop recording time, there is still more efforts for us to put in. We are currently on stage running the 2nd battery life testament which Caply can easily last for more than 4 hours. Battery size is the main challenge we are facing. But without a doubt, we will conquer it. Several iterations will be going through in the following months to ensure its 5+ hrs recording time in FHD recording. We’d like to thank our electronic engineers and industrial designers for making Ultra-lasting Caply possible!
Caply’s App is currently under development. The only app developer Alex has been heavily multitasking. The main challenge for him is lacking manpower and time to have so many features developed and tested. But it shouldn't be a big deal as we’ve outsourced several tasks to an experienced team to shorten up the development cycle. Our top priority at the moment is to ensure the stability of the Caply app and avoid any possible bug and crash during usage. Another top concern for us is to improve the connection speed to ensure a smooth live streaming footage can be presented without giving up much image quality. This is the core mission that we will constantly focus on. Glad to say that we are wrapping up the coding process and preparing our app for both the App Store and Google Play. Our goal is to launch it by the March of 2018!
Caply must be tested and approved by various independent agencies. We've gotten a head start on the process of FCC and CE certification. We’ll optimize our products in compliance with the certification and will complete it ASAP.
Caply is a sophisticated product, which demands a lot in the process of production. In order to make it available before June 2018, we’re carrying on production tests now, ensuring there will be no issues in the process of production. We have contact with the manufacturer of PCB and case, and purchased some material for production.
We’re fully aware that unexpected bumps in the road may arise and our team is dedicated to doing whatever it takes to keep our promises. We will keep updating our progress to you. Also, we’re glad to hear feedback from our backers. Together, let’s make Caply possible and better!
