About

Dylan, a.k.a. Vyst, and Anthony, a.k.a. Ant, traveled to Europe and Asia respectively. Their travels lasted over two years.

When they began their travels, they started writing update emails that quickly turned into stories.

The stories became longer and longer until they could be considered full short stories.

Eventually they were sitting on so many stories, Dylan had the idea to make a website to make them publicly available. Through much trial, tribulation, and swearing at his computer screen, Dylan managed to scrap together a website and get all of their stories in a readable format up on it (you can check it out here: www.crazyrogue.net). Both of them posted a pile of their stories and began making updates.

Most of our stories were written while we were still overseas and in the moment. We have since returned to Washington State and have been working to get ourselves re-situated and haven't had the time or the freedom to write like we used to.

We would love to have the time to sit down and write the rest of our stories. If enough people enjoy our stories and would like for them to continue, please consider making a pledge to our Kickstarter project!

These are the stories that each of us wish to write for this Kickstarter project:

Dylan:

1. How I Freed Myself From My Life and Went Traveling (Prequel)

2. Finally Camping in Castles

3. Romanian Experience: 120 Proof

4. Redefining Brutality: Day 3

5. Redefining Brutality: Days 4 and 5

6. Journey to Eastern Europe: Part 1

7. Journey to Eastern Europe: Part 2

8. Living at Al Ma'awa

Anthony:

1. Korea: Left to My Own Devices (Prequel)

2. Philippines: Hello, Again!

3. The Interview: The Infernal Buses

4. The Wedding After One Year of Bureaucratic Hell

5. Sagada Spelunking

6. Abandoned in Taiwan

7. Hawaii: Cutting the Umbilical Cord

8. Thailand: More Chang, Please (Sequel!)

Feel free to check our stories at www.crazyrogue.net.

Thank you!

-Dylan and Anthony

Risks and challenges

1. Finding time and energy to sit down and write creatively. Knowing that we have a lot of support from people who enjoy our writings and want to read more will give us the incentive to focus on writing.

2. Remembering events clearly to write them down accurately. We know that you guys would never know the difference, but we do, and it's important to us. This can often involve realizing that a sequence of events was out of place near the beginning of a story and having to rewrite half of it.

3. The technical aspect. Writing down a story is one thing, but turning the thing into a readable and visually pleasing website is quite another. It involves long hours of digging through code, loading and reloading a page in order to check to make sure it looks good, and kicking yourself repeatedly when you can't figure out the answer to a problem (Ian McConville sums it up nicely with this comic: http://threepanelsoul.com/2013/04/15/on-infinite-loops/).

The thought of using a pre-coded blogging website always irked me and I was determined through and through to make MY OWN website. Though I was successful, converting a word processing file into HTML is still a pain and a bore, which is why we're asking for so much help on this aspect.

4. Photo editing. Dylan not only taught himself HTML, he managed to figure out some sort of rudimentary photo editing skills over the years. If there is a quick and fancy way to do photo editing, he certainly isn't aware of it. It's rather painstaking to go through each photo, size it correctly, name it correctly, and get it to its right spot on a webpage without anything screwing up.

5. Providing a perspective to people who aren't familiar with who we are and what we've done. When we began writing our original emails, which eventually turned into stories, we were writing to friends and family back home that had an idea of what we were already doing. Now we'll need to tailor our stories, as well as reorganize the website, in order to make things streamlined and comprehensible for people who are reading our material for the first time.

6. Ultimately, our goal is to publish our stories. The first step toward a book would be to get everything written down. Second, we want enough of our individual short stories to flow together into overall full-length stories. To do this we're going to have to fill in as many gaps of the overall story with short stories as possible.
