We all experience a moment when we learn the full value of people in our lives.
Sometimes we forget until after a person is gone.
But, if we are lucky, we have something to remind us and heal us of that loss.
If we are lucky, we have a Whisper Stone.
In the story,we follow eight year old C.C. through a summer on his grandfather's farm. We see them share in events and experiences that grow and strengthen their relationship, and, like links in a chain, bind them together. And through it all, the power and mystery of the Whisper Stone ebbs and flows, and remembers.
The Whisper Stone will be the first chapter book published by Chimeric Press. They have previously focused solely on picture books but decided expand. The story has been four years in the making and has endured countless revisions and edits. It has been shared with writer's critique groups in person, and online. It is now ready for the world. As educators, we also decided that a curriculum guide would be a useful tool to make available as well.
What other writers have said about The Whisper Stone.
"Oh, this is the most WONDERFUL story! Maybe I'm just a big kid, but I truly loved it" -Sally Carter
"What a brilliant tale of a young lad and his Grandpa, I couldn't stop reading it even when my wife called me for dinner. A really great, heartwarming story." -Wiljacro
"This story has had me crying, then laughing and then crying again. Wonderfully warm and honest." -Mavis Ellen
"What makes this story really work are the characters. CC is a boy we instantly find appealing because of his naivete, his loyalty, and his easy-going nature. Grandpa! We all should have one like him--so wise, so understanding" -Rod G
"My gosh I LOVE your Grandpa! This was just so wonderful and filled with so many valuable lessons about life and what it means to be loved unconditionally. I wouldn't change a thing as it is written in a way that children will respond to and adults will love to read out loud."
Chimeric Press, a start-up publishing company owned by brothers Kevin and Rex White, hopes to grow into a royalty paying, non-profit corp., where schools and children's organizations can obtain project funding.
