Duck woke one morning and waddled to the watermelon patch. "Today," he said, "I am going to have a watermelon feast." When he got there, he was surprised to find that all the watermelons had been picked and packed in crates to be sent to market. "I will open one crate," he said. "Then I will have a watermelon feast." But when Duck tried to open the crate, it broke apart and the watermelons began to roll...
Chasing Watermelons is a delightful story of a young duck and his friends' escapades as they attempt to catch elusive watermelons for a watermelon feast. They learn the importance of friendship and perseverance as they find themselves in each new predicament. We use repetition and active illustrations in this 32 page hardcover to keep readers and listeners hooked. Chasing Watermelons is our third book together, with five more already planned!
Why we need you!
We have already made a 50% down payment to the printer, and 1000 books are currently under production. We need your pledges to cover the other 50% of the costs, otherwise the printer will keep the books, and be really, really mad at us!
But, this will work out just fine, as long as we get enough people to back the project to raise the $2500 we are asking for. If we reach our goal, you get your cool and amazing rewards and a warm fuzzy feeling, thus bringing the universe (and our checkbook) back into balance!
If we don't reach the goal, your credit card is not charged, you get no cool stuff, we are all extremely sad, and the universe could possible cave in...
What we have planned...
We are currently booked to display at the PA Reading Association Conference on October 27-30, and Traverse City Children's Book Festival on November 10, and would love to have all three of our books available for purchase! We will be present at reading association conferences throughout the Midwest this spring too!
We are also booking schools and libraries for author and illustrator presentations.
Chasing Watermelons is part of a larger endeavor to create a publishing house that will focus on new authors and fresh ideas usually overlooked by the larger presses. We invite you to check out Chimeric Press at www.chimericpress.com.
PLUS you will put Rex in really good mood as he begins the illustrations for "R.C. Duck, Private Eye", which I can tell you all about the next time around!
