Basic off-road training course with our expert Tom Severin of Badland Off Road Adventures.
This clinic is specifically designed to meet the needs of novice off-highway drivers or someone with a bit of experience who is looking for a more complete understanding. In the class we will cover basic information about 4WD vehicles (just enough to understand what is going on). We will cover a lot of safety and environmental concerns. But the largest part of the class is driving technique to get you through a variety of terrain. A handout of the material covered is provided. Here is a list of items we will cover: Off Road Vehicles, How 4WD Works, Driving Technique, Safety, Pre Run Check, Survival & Peace of Mind Kits, Options & Accessories, Getting Unstuck / Winching, Post Trip maintenance, Trail Etiquette & Tread Lightly. This class does not address vehicle build-up options and issues.
Also includes AHT Explorer Cap and HD Blu-Ray copy of the finished episode. Includes behinds the scene footage and a bonus copy of the pilot episode.
Death Valley National Park Expedition with our expert trainer Tom Severin of Badland Off Road Adventures.
Panamint & Funeral Mountains, Saline Valley, Eureka Valley. This is a 4 day trip covering the north and west end of Death Valley, Saline Valley and Eureka Valley. (Saline Valley and Eureka Valley are also part of the Death Valley National Park). We will start near Ridgecrest, California. The plan is to camp each night. Death Valley is quite remote with long distances (and drive time) between destinations. We don't stop as a rule at places that are paved and you can reach by passenger car. There is very limited cell phone coverage. There are opportunities to buy expensive gas. Just don't rely on a gas station to be there when you need gas - bring extra. We will avoid the paved road as much as possible. Expect plenty of washboard roads (and we mean extreme washboard that will shake every part of your vehicle, gear and shocks). This is not the trip for you if you abhor washboard, dust and scenic beauty. Death Valley abounds in history, mines, ghost towns, and natural wonders - like moving rocks. It will not be possible to see it all even thought it will seem like it. At least one night, we will camp next to the warm springs. Bring a swim suit so you can enjoy the pool. However, it is clothing optional so make your own decision!
Available dates for this package are April 12, 2013 for four days or October 25, 2013 for four days only.
Rubicon Adventure with our expert trainer Tom Severin of Badland Off Road Adventures.
The Rubicon Trails is the stuff of legends. It is considered the Grand Daddy of trails. If your vehicle has a weakness, it will find it. Any serious four-wheeler needs to "Do the Con" at least once.
The Rubicon trail runs more or less east & west across the High Sierra Nevada in Northern California. It is located west of Lake Tahoe and east of Sacramento. It can be run in either direction but traditionally is run west to east starting in George Town, CA and ending at Tohoma on Highway 89. It is rated as a level 10 difficulty on a scale of 1-10 (10 being most difficult). It is an unmaintained county road in El Dorado County. It runs through the Eldorado National Forest. The difficult portion of the trail is about 12 miles long. Available dates for this package are August 12, 2013 for four days only.
