One Year Anniversary, and Alpha 3 with Farming, Saving, and Loading!

Posted by Radiant Entertainment (Creator)

Hey Everyone!

Today, on the one-year anniversary of the Stonehearth Kickstarter, Team Radiant is proud to announce that Alpha 3 is now live on your Humble Bundle download page and via Steam!

Though we still have quite a long way to go before Stonehearth is everything we want it to be, Alpha 3 introduces the basics of our farming/food economy, as well as the ability to save (and load!) your progress. Alpha 3 also builds on Alpha 2 (which introduced the trapper) by improving significantly on AI system efficiency and the game's memory footprint.

Anniversaries are also a great time to reflect on all the amazing things that have happened this year, none of which would have been possible without the support of our Kickstarter backers--all of you.

Our deepest thanks to all of those of you who believed in us, and continue to believe in us. Every time the mountain of bugs looks insurmountable, or whenever we're weeks away from the next cool feature we want to see, we think of all the support you've given us over the past year, and we recommit to making Stonehearth the game we all can't wait to play.

Here's to the next 365,

-- Tom, Tony, Stephanie, Albert, Chris, and Doug

P.S. If you've got questions on how to download Alpha 3 from Humble Bundle/Steam, check out our original post about Alpha1 here or our FAQ here. If you've got comments, suggestions, or bugs to report, join us on the Discourse or the StonehearthGuru forums!

Where is this at in development? No updates or comments in a while...

I'm posting this comment around midnight so bear with me. Since the game is only in Alpha 3, does that mean it's not available to pledge $15?

    5. Ben Dorman on

@alex, because they are not in the game yet. ;) I'd much rather see core game mechanics than the pets so far.

    6. Alex Schreiber on

I have downloaded Stonehearth and I pleged $30 and I never recieved any special pets? Whyy? :((

Looking forward to the Linux release! (I know the alpha/beta versions were never intended as being cross platform, just consider this a Linux cheer)

@Turk, hmm, how are you trying to get the carpenter to do work? After he's wearing his blue outfit, try clicking on him, and then clicking on the "craft" button in his unit frame in the upper left corner of the screen. That should bring up a UI. Ditto for the trapper.

@David, no worries! If you go to the Humble Bundle download page, there's a box with a button in it that says "generate Steam Key". You press the button and put the key into your steam client. Check out Step 3 of the FAQ:

tried it for a bit, got time to choop wood, gather food etc and even build but unable to work the carpenter or trapper. Upgrading one of them to a profession but unable to use them to do any work or commands etc

Please forgive me if I've overlooked it, but how do we download it on Steam? Do you have to get it through Humble Bundle and then somehow connect it to your Steam account?

Also, this is for backers at what level? Alphas aren't mentioned in the reward levels.

It's great to hear that you're keeping us Mac owners in mind. I look forward to playing sometime in the fall.

Our goal is still to do the port after we finish the core systems. We're targeting September, but the exact date depends on how many surprising issues we discover in the process. :P

      +1 to a Mac version.
