Huge Thank Yous All Around, and What Comes Next!

Hi guys. These last thirty days have been life-changing for us. Because of your support we will be able to not only continue to work on Stonehearth, but grow the team to truly make the game everything we want it to be. You all have our heartfelt gratitude for not only your financial support, but for believing in our vision. Thanks.

As you can imagine, we’re getting a lot of questions about what comes next. So here it is in a nutshell.

You Can Still Pledge Through Paypal

We’ll keep our PayPal pledge page up for the next two weeks for those of you who missed the official Kickstarter window. You can pledge at http://stonehearth.net/kickstarter

All the rewards are identical. This is just an alternate method of payment. If you pledge through PayPal, expect to just get a confirmation from PayPal.com. We aren't sending additional confirmation of our own, so don't worry when you don't get one. :)

How and When Can I Play the Game?

The game isn’t playable yet. $30 and above backers, you’ll get access to the beta in December of this year. Everyone else, you will get the game in September 2014, after the beta.

For everyone, you’ll receive email with download instructions when the game is available. We don’t know the final mechanism yet, but we know for sure that there will be a direct download option, and maybe a Steam version as well. If we offer Steam, then all backers will have the option of getting a Steam code for the game.

Pledge Rewards

Our plan is to get the physical rewards (T-Shirts and posters) out to you guys over the next two months. After the Paypal pledge window closes in two weeks we’ll send out a survey to get your shirt sizes. Then we’ll need to produce the shirts and get them mailed out, which will take a few more weeks.

The digital rewards will take longer. Obviously we have to produce the soundtrack produced before we can send it to you! We’re also holding back on the artbook, so that we can give you a big, full artbook later rather than a smaller one now. You can expect the digital rewards to come in probably at the same time as beta, or maybe a little after.

What’s Next for Team Radiant

With the Kickstarter over, it’s time for us put our heads down and work hard to get to out a high quality beta by December. So in the short term you may hear less from us, but we’ll definitely still be in touch! We will post major updates on our progress to Kickstarter, but if you want to follow us closely your best bet is to check our development web blog at http://stonehearth.net

Once again, thanks for your support. We’re looking forward to putting out something that we can all be proud of, and hopefully build and play together for years to come.

Finally, here's a super-early first look at our last stretch goal, the Dwarves!

Survey? No mention since this post.

    2. Creator David Jonathon Simpson on July 24, 2013

How can I keep up to date on this games progress? Do you have a twitter or Facebook page?

      David Simpson

    3. Creator Patrick Ballou on June 26, 2013

Any update on the survey? Layoff on Friday and I'd like to get this taken care of before my buddy level buddy and I part ways.

    4. Creator Patrick Ballou on June 19, 2013

      Radiant,
Can we get a backer survey goin? I need to get my Buddy level set up so my coworker can pay me his half. It wouldn't be a big deal if we were not getting laid off on the 28th. Also I assume the buddy level will let you put in the additional email address so they can get their key independently if we like.

      Thank you,
      Patrick

My boys want a second copy of the game, I too would like to bump myself from Settler Tier to the Settler Tier, Beta Buddy level via paypal.

Just a random sampling of user comments about Co-Op from a Steam Post I had before Radiant had made many statements about it - mostly just to show user opinions and ideas:

    10. Creator JacobM on May 31, 2013

AWESOME! So fluffy beard. An idea for t-shirts would be that ready-stance for the basic military unit. And the cool logo could be underneath. Good Luck and can't wait for the Beta!!!!!

    11. Creator Michael Johnsen on May 31, 2013

Man i cant wait till december - finish up already >:) - BTW I loved the idea of hosted Cities I hope that you'll get a chance to do this later - maybea second kickstarter (HINT!!) The rewards could be amongst others x number of months hosted - just a suggestion

    12. Creator Jack Carey on May 31, 2013

How often will the December beta be updated before the game's release? Will it be a weekly/fortnightly thing, or whenever a major bug is fixed or a feature is added?

    13. Creator Patrick on May 31, 2013

I understand it being backer privilege, but will there be an opportunity for lower than Settler tier backers to come into the beta a while after the Settler tier+ have been in the beta? Like, say if I were to PayPal another $15 later on (if PP stays open for a while)...would that count me as $30 since I backed through Kickstarter?

    14. Creator Mathew on May 31, 2013

You should not worry about giving us the digital stuff as of yet :) simply have it ready and release it with the game so then that way we get it all at once. I don't think that's a bad idea and that others can really argue with that

    15. Creator Christian Breitenstein on May 30, 2013

Nice! I am already looking forward to playing the Dwarves :)

    16. Creator Timothy on May 30, 2013

@Brian that sounds in keeping with what they said last night. Thanks for the clarification.

    17. Creator Brian on May 30, 2013

Yes they use Qubicle, and no you don't get a free copy with Stonehearth; and the free version on their website doesn't allow you to export files for game use - I believe Radiant has been trying to come to an agreement to release a version in tandem with Stonehearth.

    18. Creator Robert V Frazier on May 30, 2013

Bless his blocky little dwarf beard!

    19. Creator leap198 on May 30, 2013

I haven't been this excited for a game in a very long time. I'll be waiting eagerly for release. Of course I'll get the beta too... OMG I can't wait! I need a time machine!

    20. Creator Sebastian Vink on May 30, 2013

@Timothy and @Will: I believe they're using the Qubicle Voxel editor which you can already download today (there's a free version available). It's not developed by RA themselves, just Google it. Because it's a separate, commercial tool, I wonder if it would be included in the Stonehearth release...

    21. Creator Timothy on May 30, 2013

@Will from what I understand from the livestream last night, the game comes with all of the tools and data that RA used to make the game, excluding the game engine. So I'd assume you'd get the voxel editor.

    22. Creator Gavin Reading Rainbow KS backer! on May 30, 2013

Hey! That dwarf's arms are fully attached to his shoulders! How weird is that? ;)

    23. Creator Will Grimme on May 30, 2013

I understand that modding is a huge part of this game...
Are you planning on packaging a voxel editor as part of the game, or will we have to download one ourselves?

    24. Creator Alexander Ericsson on May 30, 2013

Good luck and keep up the good work! :)
      Cool dwarf btw! :D

    25. Creator Brian on May 30, 2013

@Radiant: It is possible to still create new updates though isn't it? maybe a weekly update for the next two weeks of the paypal campaign?

    26. Creator Radiant Entertainment on May 30, 2013

@Thomas Once a Kickstarter has ended, you CANNOT change the page. Isn't that great! I wish we could make it easier to make it clear that we're still accepting PayPal pledges, but we can't do it through the main KS page.

    27. Creator Alexander Brunius on May 30, 2013

Needs more dwarfs. I know you want to make a dwarf fortress game, really!

You even named it STONE (h) EARTH, digging and dwarfs must be very important! :)

Just love the whole, dug to deep and greedily gameplay.

    28. Creator Brendan Sullivan on May 30, 2013

      keep up the good work

    29. Creator Steve Adamo on May 30, 2013

      Awesome ... awesome ... awesome ...

Couldn't have happened to a better group of developers... can't wait to see what's down the road... :)

    32. Creator Thomas Hoffmann on May 30, 2013

@Radient Entertainment ( @RadEnt if that tag even works)
Please (if you can) change the main page to make it easier for people looking at it to see that paypal is still going on, because awareness is an issue and we cannot notify everyone through chat.
I suggest an auto-counter using a simple script like "get data: paypal + 751,920 = display" (however that is actually scripted) to show how much we have raised in total (should be close to 800'000 now.) along with a little bit of text saying "You can still pledge for 2 weeks until (date) through the paypal link"
It should be layed out like this:
      (counter)
      text
      link
This should all go above the greenlight thingamabob in order to make it easier noticeable.
Also, only people that have pledged already get this notification.
If you cannot change it at anymore then oh well, i tried.

    33. Creator Michael Maroney on May 30, 2013

I don't know what it is about this game... it's just so interesting and there is a very nice feel to the the graphics. I can't wait to start playing when the beta version is released, although it may be a bit longer for me because I am on a mac. Good luck guys! You're doing a great job!
