Mac Version Needs Testing!

Posted by Radiant Entertainment (Creator)

Hey everyone, we're closing in on our 1.1 release, and that means that the Mac version of Stonehearth is also approaching completion! We'd love a few extra eyeballs on it, if you've got time to spare.

You'll need to be on Steam, and you'll need to navigate to our MacOS testing branch. Find instructions here:

Minspecs on the MacOS version of the game are:

  • macOS Sierra or later
  • 2.8 GHz Intel Core i7
  • 16GB of RAM
  • NVIDIA GeForce GT 750M

If you find any bugs or weirdness, please let us know here or in the discourse thread above.

Thanks, and if you celebrate, hope you all have a lovely American Thanksgiving. :)

Hey everyone, thanks so much for the feedback. We gave a really conservative estimate for the minspec, because we wanted to err on the side of "making sure it ran" while we were asking testing. In actuality, as @Petrell says, those are more like the recommended specs--the actual minspec will be something like macOS 10.11 (El Capitan), Intel core i5 1.7GHz+, 8BG of RAM, Radeon HD 5870 or GeForce 630, or HD Graphics 4000. This should mean most Macs from after 2013 or so, and some from 2011 and beyond. If you're interested in testing it out on one of these lower spec machines, please let us know how it goes! We've got it running on a 2013 air right now, albeit on the lowest graphics settings.

@JoshStricklin, sorry you still haven't gotten your key. Try the instructions here:

Running a 2014 5k iMac, 4ghz i7, 32GB Ram, AMD Radeon R9 M295X 4096 MB and the first thing I noticed was how HOT the game runs. Even with my fan settings maxed out the game was exceeding 100(c).

That's... not good. Even reducing the settings to their minimum the best I could do was keep it at around 104(c).

I'm running the macOS beta on a late 2013 iMac, so I think that the specs are leaning hugely on the safe side.

I am still waiting on my key. Haven't heard from anyone since the release of the game.

Are those minimum specs an early April fools joke? I let the lack of a Linux release slide, but have now requested a refund as I would now have to go spend between £2-3k on a new Mac in order to play this...

Also for the record, I can't actually find an iMac, Mac Mini, MacBook, MacBook Air, or MacBook Pro that meets these requirements. Only the iMac Pro seems to exceed them and that is a £4700 machine...

Looks like it's time for most to upgrade their Mac's for a dead in the water game, refund the money and consider it PR costs

So as long as everyone upgraded to a top of the line MacBook Pro some time a year or more after this kickstarter launched, they’ll be fine! 🙄

I'm still waiting for my refund since I backed for the Linux version.

Is there something dependent on macOS Sierra or is it possible to run on El Capitan?

Aren't those recommended specs rather than minimum? I mean minimum for Windows are Intel or AMD Dual-Core, 1.7 GHz+, 4 GB RAM and nVidia GeForce GT 430 512MB, Radeon HD 7570M or Intel HD 4000

      16GB of RAM...WTF?
