ABOUT THE SHOW: HelLA is a web series about life in LA… Episodes range from 30 seconds to 2 minutes long, and each deal with a specific 'only in LA' type moment. If a picture's worth a thousand words, then I might as well just play you our first episode, since it's only 37 seconds long and that's quicker than almost anything I could write to describe the series.

So far we have about 1.7 Million views between Youtube and FunnyorDie, where we are regularly featured on the front page (shout out to FOD!). We've also been written up by several press outlets:
I've been lucky enough to work with talented people who love the project enough to work for free/close to free but we still face costs like insurance, equipment, food, props… In order to ensure a second season, I am trying to raise 15 thousand dollars in 30 days. Shamwow, that's a lot… but I've done the math and it's also the bare minimum of what we need to make season 2 happen.
I've outlined some of the cool rewards we have below, but I also understand that times are tough and not everyone may be able to donate. If you'd still like to be a part of the HelLA team, we are always looking for people to help us get the word out. So, reach out and drop us a line!
Thanks & much love. xx, Rory & the HelLA team

How Does it work? People pledge an amount and choose a reward. At the end of our Kickstarter campaign, if the combined total of all pledges for our project meets our $15,000 goal within 30 days, then the credit cards of those who pledge are charged and we receive the funds to make the series. If we don't meet our goal, then the money is not withdrawn from your account and no rewards are provided. If we exceed our $15,000 goal then the extra funds will be used to make the series even better. Aside from a 5% Kickstarter fee and a 3-5% Amazon credit card processing fee, all funds raised will be used directly in the production of the film.
Can I increase my pledge once it’s been made? YES! Once you donate to our campaign, you may want to change your incentive reward to a different one, or increase your pledge amount. To do so, go to Kickstarter and sign in. If you go to our campaign page, the green “Back This Project” button has been replaced with a blue “Manage Your Donation” button. Click it and you can enter a new amount, or choose a new incentive.
What happens if all the money isn’t raised in time? Unfortunately, NOTHING. If we don’t meet our goal within 30 days, we don’t get any of the money, and we can’t make the series. :(
Can we exceed the goal? Absolutely! And if we do pass 15K, we have even more exciting rewards to add!
How do we contact you? You can contact us directly at OnlyinHelLA@gmail.com. We check it. It may take a second, but we will get back to you!
Other ways to help: Help us spread the word! It’s hard for independent artists and getting the word out is half the battle. So please, feel free to share our website, like us on Facebook, tweet us, blog us, and use our hashtag #OnlyinHelLA in any way you can think of!
Risks and challenges
As with any production, there are inherent risks, especially given the accelerated timeline we are operating under. We want to go into production on season two this summer, right after the campaign is completed.
The biggest challenge we face is the ambition of the project we are undertaking. We are essentially talking about shooting a single cam comedy pilot, from preproduction to production to post, for a fraction of the budget. It is only because of our incredible team, who believe in this project enough to go above and beyond their jobs, that we are able to do this. If setbacks arise we know that the team we have assembled can rise to the occasion because they've been able to do so in the past. Check back periodically, as I will post some of these stories from set.
Where Does Your Money Go?
INSURANCE: One of the biggest hidden costs of production is liability insurance-- we have to make sure we're covered in case anything happens to work with our locations, rental houses and unions!
EQUIPMENT: Like the way our episodes look? We rented a lot of expensive things like lights and camera lenses to get the look of our show, and we want to be able to keep it that way!! Plus, we'll also need hard drives to store the footage.
CREW: We love our crew. They're some of the best people in the business and they work extremely hard because they believe in the project. We'd very much like to show just how much we appreciate them by putting a paycheck in their hands.
FOOD: Our cast and crew are human beings and they need to eat while on set. If people are doing favors or working under their normal rates, you have to be able to fee them well. Nobody likes to be hangry (hungry + angry).
POST PRODUCTION: Our editor, colorist, and sound mixer are magicians. Seriously though, we have no idea how they make our show look and sound the way that they do. That kind of magic doesn't just appear out of thin air.
