My name is Cole, and I'm an aspiring architect, woodworker, concrete former, and designer. The goal of this project is to learn a new craft and share it with you all. I have recently been spending time researching how to do printmaking in different mediums. This began with an appreciation for the materials we work with, and a desire to share that with you.
The process begins with searching the local area for fallen trees and contact local tree companies for their fallen lumber. The stumps are rough sawn with a chainsaw, then I go back with a belt sander and work through progressively finer sandpaper until the entire surface is smooth. After a little more work, the surface is ready for relief printing. Each print is hand pressed to transfer the information from the tree to the new paper medium. Every one is unique and has it's own subtle differences from one another, making every one absolutely unique.
I am looking to raise $500 in order to start a small print shop making many more of these prints and shirts! I already have most of the tools needed, but a new router will help to flatten larger trees, and the rest will go to materials for the project. Thank you for taking the time!
Risks and challenges
With this project, the only challenge I forsee is if orders go beyond expectations, in which case I just find more fallen trees & work longer days. I'm excited to get these out to everyone!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
