Looking Ahead to Week 4

Posted by Visionary Realms, Inc. (Creator)

It's hard to believe that only three weeks ago the Kickstarter for Pantheon: Rise of the Fallen introduced itself to the world. Over those three weeks we've seen a ton of excitement and so much support from the community for the project. People have been emailing, commenting and posting offering ways to help, and suggestions on how we can improve. For that, Visionary Realms would like to take a moment to thank you all for your support.

During our interview with the Project 1999 team we broke 300k Saturday night. This milestone was a big one, and we were quite happy to see that number. To further the good news Saturday night, P99 informed us, and their players of their plan to support the project through a pledge drive. We were both humbled and highly appreciative of the support by the team and the players. A big thank you to you all!

If you missed the interview, you can catch it on YouTube .

Portalarium Offers Help

P99 hasn't been the only group to offer their assistance in raising funds for Pantheon. Friday we told you that Portalarium, Richard Garriott's team behind Shroud of the Avatar, offered their help via a cross-funding initiative, offering backers of both games special in-game rewards. We are continuing discussions with Portalarium to figure out cool ways to thank backers, and wanted to give a quick shout of thanks to the team over there.

Didn't catch the news? Brad did a series of interviews on the initiative and you can catch those interviews at Massively, Curse, Ten Ton Hammer, and

Vu Returns to the Rob and Dan Show

After his first taste of show business, Vu is hungry for more. Tonight he'll be making his second appearance on the Rob and Dan show to show more of his work on Pantheon. With him will be more members of the Visionary Realms team to give more details about the game and answer your questions. Be sure to tune in to the Rob & Dan show today at 4pm PST / 7pm EST to check it out.

Check Out our Add-ons

Last week we also introduced our pledge add-ons. These add-ons offer some things not available in current tiers, and some bits from existing tiers. So, if you have pledged at a certain tier but wish you had something extra, like a second alpha or beta key for instance, head on over to our add-ons page to find out how add-ons work and how you can claim even more goodies.

Back to AMA

After the last AMA, Brad wanted to do another one. And I'm guessing some of you would like another chance to ask your questions directly of Brad. Well, that opportunity is coming up! But we're going to do things a little differently this time. Instead of pre-selecting a time on our own, Brad has agreed to let you pick for him. So, simply post in the comments section of this thread the day of the week and time you'd like Brad to appear on AMA, and we'll get it scheduled.

Three Weeks Left and Need Your Help

We're past the half-way mark now in our Kickstarter campaign time. And while we're thrilled to have broken 300k, we still need more help. So, this week we reach out to you once more to help spread the word. You all have been great in getting the word around, but this week we're going to ask for something a bit more personal. If everyone talked to one person each week and convinced that one person to pledge, we'd be on track to not only break the 800k but we could even begin to reach some stretch goals before the campaign is over. I think we can do it. We certainly have a passionate enough community that believes in this project. Together we can make it happen.

The Rogue

Posted by Visionary Realms, Inc. (Creator)

"Eh! Where'd he go? Is he a cutpurse or a bloody magician?" - Voldrin the Trade Baron, right before Tundril the Planestalker phased in behind him and stole his purse.

Role: DPS/Debuffer

Style: Proficient in most melee weapons, experts with daggers and poisons. Masters of planar edged weaponry, able to detect and sever planar connections of power.

  • Assassin: Specializing in taking down their targets quickly, whether by poison or blade, an assassin embraces death.
  • Planestalker: Masters of magical melee, planestalkers shift or phase in and out, as they sever the planar connections empowering their enemies.

The Rogue

The Rogue is an agile master of blades and subterfuge. More than just an average thief, the rogue has honed his skills and senses beyond natural limits. With unnatural perception the Rogue has learned to identify and tap into the many arcane auras that permeate the shadows of Terminus.

What is a Rogue?

The Rogue is a thief, master of deception, subterfuge and carnage. Capable of hiding in the shadows or sneaking past the untrained eye, Rogues are skillful in pickpocketing and infiltration. Though the world of Terminus is perilous, they have become quite proficient in evasion and have a keen perception of present danger in the area as well as traps. The Rogue may disarm traps, alter the trigger so they fire on enemies only, or simply create new ones.

As an Assassin the rogue and their targets dance with death. Once marked by an Assassin the target’s chances of survival are all but none. Their specialty lies in pointed and edged weapons which they use to great effect. When mixing poisons together Assassins can enhance their innate abilities further solidifying their role as a DPS specialist focused on bursts of high damage.

Planestalkers are rogues that have exposed themselves to the planar energies emanating from Terminus. By exposing themselves they have given up much of their influence on the physical plain but what they lose they gain in their ability to shift planes, manifest planar edged weapons and throw phased projectiles. By shifting onto another plane of existence Planestalkers can see the magical connections that every being has and sever them. Severing these connections will produce ill effects like lowering their target's damage or stopping their ability to cast spells altogether.

Reward Tiers (Updated Jan 31, 2014)

Posted by Visionary Realms, Inc. (Creator)

One of the challenges of Kickstarter rewards is that we cannot modify the tier rewards after they have at least one pledge to them. This makes things a bit tricky when we want to add more to the tier as an extra thank you for your support. So, in light of that, we've made the following chart that lists all of our tiers, and all of their rewards. Please view this chart as the "real deal" as it will be the reward you'll be collecting at the end of the Kickstarter. This is the newest version of the chart, and will continue to be updated on the main Kickstarter page.

Any discrepancies between this chart and the reward descriptions on the right are in favor of the pledger. We've added value to many tiers, and have not removed anything that you were already set to receive.

The Elf

Posted by Visionary Realms, Inc. (Creator)

Woodland Wardens
Origin World: Mythantya
Current Homeland: The Falmyrys
Pantheon: Ryn’Etryas (The Eternal Rings)
Language: Etryan
Classes: TBA

The Elves, or Etryan as they call themselves, are a deeply ritualistic and spiritual woodland folk. Quite possibly the oldest living race in this universe and beyond, the Elves have undergone eons of evolution to become the nature bound and simplistic race that it currently is. In their current age, the Elves are divided into two nations: the Do’Etryan (Dark Elves) and the Fal’Etryan (Wood Elves). With lithe and graceful bodies, the Elves are extremely agile, something that aids in their navigation and preservation of the forest realms. Their humble existence and symbiotic relationship with the wilderness is an extension of their devout faith to the spirits of nature who they call the Ryn’Etryas, the Eternal Rings. They often place the flora and fauna of their realms before themselves. They craft arcane-engineered dwellings and defenses that do little to no disruption of the natural environment. As scouts and rangers, they are superior survivalists. As tradesmen they are peerless woodworkers with their finest products employing rare materials imbued with forest mana. Most Elves prefer the company of each other within their isolated societies, but on Terminus, a great many of Elves have risen to adventure and explore the many wonders of the world of worlds.

Originating on the world of Mythantya, the Etryan race was long divided in two. One race thrived within forest kingdoms while a newer breed flourished within the subterranean “root realms.” With both depending on many of the same sources of life, war arose between the sibling races. This war was carried over to Terminus. Named for the one great tree that spawned the entire forest, above and below, the majestic Falmyrys was transported to Terminus bringing with it the Etryan race. The sibling races of the Do’Etryan and the Fal’Etryan fought for control of the land. Their conflict carried on and saw both armies scattered. Eyeing an opportunity, dragon forces from an infernal realm to the south began their invasion. Led by their scaled deity, Kaul’Odun, the dragonkin army began a destructive march into the heart of the forest, razing the woodlands around them. The Etryan were outmatched and divided. Defeat was imminent. In this, their darkest of hours, their gods finally appeared. Taking the form of the circle of nature each commanded the spirit deities came to the defense of the Falmyrys. Doing battle with the dragon god, the Ryn’Etryas repelled the invaders, forcing the invaders to flee, many leaping to their deaths off the endless cliffs that led to their fiery realm. With salvation delivered, the warring Etryan came to a truce and made a pact to defend the Falmyrys as one and share in its bounty. Coming together as wardens of the woodlands, the Etryan sequestered the Falmyrys, isolating their society from the rest of Terminus. Only after many ages did the Etryan finally form foreign alliances through need and shared trials. Recently they have come to open their doors to outsiders. Yet still, they control the flow in and out of their realm and watch from the trees and shadows of the Falmyrys.

Pantheon: Rise of the Fallen and Shroud of the Avatar Collaborate for Crowdfunding

Posted by Visionary Realms, Inc. (Creator)

Good morning, Pantheon fans! We have some great news to share today.

Brad has been talking with Richard 'Lord British' Garriott this week of Shroud of the Avatar and the two of them have been brainstorming ways to support both games. The result? Backers of both games can now claim a cross-game cloak in both Pantheon: Rise of the Fallen and Shroud of the Avatar. To qualify for the special Pantheon/SotA cross-game cloak you must be a Pantheon backer at the Fallen's Special tier or higher and the SotA First Responder (Kickstarter) or Adventurer (post-Kickstarter) pledge tier or higher. You'll then be able to wear the cloaks in both games.

Need a sneak peek? Of course! Pantheon's cloak will tout the SotA crest, and Shroud of the Avatar will be etched with Pantheon's crest.

If you haven't checked it out yet, we strongly urge you to check out SotA's website. Portalarium, like Visionary Realms, are returning to the roots of what made early games so popular to begin with.

“The opportunity to work with Portalarium is extremely exciting, not just in terms of what we can do together with our games, but also on a very personal level,” said Brad. “Lord British has been a hero of mine since I was a teen, and ultimately was responsible for inspiring me into the video game industry. Ultima II was the first time I realized what a virtual world was and could be. When I experienced that, my life was forever changed. It became a passion, and eventually a career. Lord British and Portalarium continue to be an inspiration with Shroud of the Avatar. It’s a perfect example of how the core elements of games from years past can continue to influence and innovate in today’s industry.”

Lord British had something similar to say.

“There is no doubt that Brad McQuaid led EverQuest to become the standard bearer against which all other MMOs would be compared, and most have been patterned. Just as I hope fans are excited about the return of the King of Britannia in Shroud of the Avatar, I have no doubt that Brad McQuaid will lead Pantheon to fulfill and expand the vision he began in the earliest days of the MMO era, and grow it into the future. I for one, look forward to what I will again learn from his leadership in gaming.”

Starr Long, Executive Producer of SotA and the original Producer of Ultima Online added: “While Ultima Online is credited with getting the MMO genre started it was really EverQuest, coming shortly after, that ended up defining the genre, even to this day. Brad and his merry band created a game heavily focused on adventuring and complex group play that every successful MMO since has emulated. Visionary Realms and Portalarium are both on a journey to bring fans another set of immersive worlds so it is exciting to be helping each other in our endeavors.”

Keeping the community involved is paramount to both teams, throughout funding and through development. That community is reaching further. It's not just the gamers that are part of the community, but the developers as well. Exciting times ahead for everyone!
