The Enchanter

“Everything you know about them, everything you ever hated about them, it is all wiped away as you are dazzled by their uncanny charm. Their will becomes your own and you will gladly die for them. When you see one, if you still control your own mind, then heed my advice… Run as far away as you can and don’t look back!”

Role: Utility

Style: Master of crowd control. Proficient at buffing, stunning, mesmerizing and charming the enemy to do their bidding.

  • Beguiler: Assists the group through stuns and mesmerizing multiple enemies. Maintain and use mesmerized enemies to power your magical strengths.
  • Phantasmist: Control groups of charmed enemies. Manipulate their behavior and force them to adhere your commands like a general commanding his army.

Enchanters are controllers; manipulators of the mind and soul. Through use of illusions they are capable of infiltrating enemy strongholds, bypassing city security and even hide in plain sight. On the battlefield, they focus on dominating their enemy and changing the course of battle to flow by their will. Enchanters are eager to find victory but are not proficient at direct combat. They buff and strengthen their allies with planar magic while stripping the enemy of their powers. The Enchanter can attack the willpower of an enemy, thus giving them control of their minds or mesmerizing them.

As a Beguiler, they will stun the enemy's attack to give their allies additional time to defend and react. When times are tough and the group is engaged by multiple enemies, the Enchanter can mesmerize them and hold them in place, making them unable to act in any way. In this state, the Enchanter may tap into their planar connections and use their magic source to power themselves or their allies. Though the enemy magic source is limited and cannot fuel the Enchanter forever, there have been cases where Enchanters were able to tap deeper into the source for additional power, thus causing an overload which would lead the enemy to explode, damaging all around them. If the enemy is still mesmerized, then the Enchanter can redirect the blast to other enemies and avoid damaging allies. If it is not mesmerized then there will be dire consequences.

As a Phantasmist, the Enchanter is capable of charming multiple enemies at once, thus creating a small group to follow them. With this small army under their control, they may command them to do as they please. Whether it is to defend a rally point or attack the enemy, the charmed ones will do so without hesitation. The Enchanter may choose what to do with each charmed pet. They can split them apart to perform multiple acts or focus them on a single one. The power of the charmed pets is derived from the first one that is charmed. Thus, the more charmed, the less powerful each one is.

Definatly will be my first class... I played one in EQ she will be reborn in Pantheon!

    2. Creator Nost on February 9, 2014

Since Revenant race has no healer class's and are faithless and more magic based, might an enchanter be able to act as a healer class for the undead

    3. Creator Fizen on February 5, 2014

when's alpha being, need a chanter hit.

    4. Creator Tony "Vhalen" Garcia on February 4, 2014

The team has been so creative with these classes that even I am excited to play certain classes that I never really considered before. As the lore writer, the class team has given me great ideas to work with as we expand the fiction behind classes.

You guys better be satisfied with the fact that you're making it increasingly difficult to settle on one main character class... (frustrating sigh).

The funny thing is, I was cleaning my teeth last night (!) and thinking about how I was enjoying my relatively new Enchantress in EQ! How sad is that! :D

      Can. Not. Wait.

What excites me most about this class is not the class itself, but the presence of the class in the line up and what it implies about the combat. Many MMOs today have crowd control abilities, but "controller" classes get left by the wayside in most MMOs, because combat happens so fast and so easy that there's no point mezzing anything. Why would you mez when you can just kill it. Death is the best form of crowd control, after all.

But after EQ and Vanguard, we know that Brad doesn't make games with mobs that are faceroll-easy. The presence of this class indicates that crowd control -will- be a necessary part of Pantheon combat. And if crowd control is a necessary part of Pantheon combat, that then implies that each enemy will be individually more dangerous (otherwise we wouldn't need to mez them).

p.s. @Tayna Stinson - I'll see you on the battlefield with my matching macro of "Taunting %t twice to break mez. You hit it before me, you tank it." ;)

You Just made my wife a very very happy lady....being that she is due our first child in a couple of months, THANK YOU lets keep up the good work and get this thing made!!

I wonder if there will be more to the specializations than skills/spells - like the cleric specializations allowing different armors/ weapons ect.
Anyway im already a huge fan of the beguiler and think I have found my class.

    18. Creator Pharone The Gnome on February 4, 2014

Absolutely love the fact that the two specializations are truly unique in what they specialize in doing. This brings back the awesomeness of unique class abilities.

    19. Creator Forlaen on February 4, 2014

I am reminded of the Bonedancer from DAoC when I think about the Phantasmist specialization above. <3 Bonedancers

    20. Creator ThreeBeastSmile on February 4, 2014

Oh wow. As one of my staples, I wouldn't know which path to choose. Phantasmist seems like it'd take more work to play well - going on the fact they have to risk charming mobs - so I think I may be leaning on that. Now all I need is the fox race darn it! My main was a Raki Psionicist in VG and that was some of the funnest times I've spent within an MMO.

    21. Creator Adam Jennings on February 4, 2014

Jason, I too loved my enchanter in EQ. I remember playing an entire weekend (no sleep) at KC and never hurting for a group longer than a few minutes.

Those bad pulls with multiple mobs meant I had to be quick on my feet.

      So excited for this!

    22. Creator Tanya Stinson on February 4, 2014

SOOOO excited! Was an enchanter in EQ and loved it! Groups needed you! This means that I can resurrect the, " *** is mesmerized by my charm; you break it, you bought it" hot key! My bard-Feos Swansong will have to wait...Nycti's bringing sexy back. (insert dance)

    23. Creator Chuck Mellott on February 4, 2014

TW: What is the Project 1999 server? Sounds really interesting while we wait. Please advise and thanks!

    24. Creator Josh Wolf on February 4, 2014

This description makes me really want to play an enchanter for the first time... ever.

    25. Creator Nydan on February 4, 2014

Loved my enchanter in EQ1. Stopping trains in their tracks where any normal group would be wiped was my favorite. I was always wanted in every group. It was great fun. I also loved the thrill of moving deep into dungeons solo using combinations of invisibility, invisibility to undead, and mes with memory wipe for those pesky mobs with see invisibility. Great fun.

I hope they can recreate and expand on that magic with the technology of today.

    26. Creator Bryan Bessette on February 4, 2014

Whoa... this is really cool! I wonder if Ogre's can be enchanters. lol

    27. Creator Julie Dave on February 4, 2014

      Oh oh! Liiiiiiike! :)

    28. Creator T.W. Anderson on February 4, 2014

      Sounds awesome :)

This is more than likely my next incarnation in an MMORPG. I may change my mind...but I've already Rangered it for 7 years, Main-Tanked it for 8 years, and done Druids in between. Would really like to play the "control" class for a change.

Been dabbling in Classic EQ1 on the Project 1999 server past few the Pantheon Uprising guild. Getting my feet wet. This sounds awesome especially the Beguiler and the "explosions" with channeled energy into other mezzed mobs...and if not...wiping the group due to backfire =P
