The Rogue

"Eh! Where'd he go? Is he a cutpurse or a bloody magician?" - Voldrin the Trade Baron, right before Tundril the Planestalker phased in behind him and stole his purse.

Role: DPS/Debuffer

Style: Proficient in most melee weapons, experts with daggers and poisons. Masters of planar edged weaponry, able to detect and sever planar connections of power.


  • Assassin: Specializing in taking down their targets quickly, whether by poison or blade, an assassin embraces death.
  • Planestalker: Masters of magical melee, planestalkers shift or phase in and out, as they sever the planar connections empowering their enemies.

The Rogue

The Rogue is an agile master of blades and subterfuge. More than just an average thief, the rogue has honed his skills and senses beyond natural limits. With unnatural perception the Rogue has learned to identify and tap into the many arcane auras that permeate the shadows of Terminus.

What is a Rogue?

The Rogue is a thief, master of deception, subterfuge and carnage. Capable of hiding in the shadows or sneaking past the untrained eye, Rogues are skillful in pickpocketing and infiltration. Though the world of Terminus is perilous, they have become quite proficient in evasion and have a keen perception of present danger in the area as well as traps. The Rogue may disarm traps, alter the trigger so they fire on enemies only, or simply create new ones.

As an Assassin the rogue and their targets dance with death. Once marked by an Assassin the target’s chances of survival are all but none. Their specialty lies in pointed and edged weapons which they use to great effect. When mixing poisons together Assassins can enhance their innate abilities further solidifying their role as a DPS specialist focused on bursts of high damage.

Planestalkers are rogues that have exposed themselves to the planar energies emanating from Terminus. By exposing themselves they have given up much of their influence on the physical plain but what they lose they gain in their ability to shift planes, manifest planar edged weapons and throw phased projectiles. By shifting onto another plane of existence Planestalkers can see the magical connections that every being has and sever them. Severing these connections will produce ill effects like lowering their target's damage or stopping their ability to cast spells altogether.

      @DarkAkuma I agree, Lockpicking was left out of Vanguard and it kinda made me sad, although there was something else included in Vanguard to somewhat make up for it. Forgery, I loved it and it just expounded on what the Rogue class should be all about "Cheating".

      I could do things a rogue just plain and simple shouldn't be able to do and I did it through cheating, the way a Rogue should do it. Speed buff, underwater breathing, evac. etc..

      Not sure if we can get an answer to this, but is Forgery or Lock Picking going to make a comeback on this class?

      I've been waiting for the Rogue reveal as that's been my favorite class in D&D/MMO's. So I'm happy to finally see the details about it released!

      The Assassin path sounds like a basic type of Rogue that I like.

      The Planestalker is... interesting. I like how throwing is mentioned, as in EQ and WoW the throwing ability of Rogues was very neglected. How that or the role of the class branch in general plays out will be something I'll look forward to finding out more about. At the least I'll go Assassin and be happy though!

      Also of note, I like the idea of Rogues being able to adjust/re-use traps rather then just disarm them. It shows thought being put into the often neglected Rogue abilities, and gives hope that they won't be things you use once in a blue moon, to little gain.

      I see pickpocketing mentioned, which is good, and hopefully it will be done well were it's meaningful but not to provoke crying from players of other classes. But I am curious, and perhaps worried about the lack of mentioning of lock picking.

      A note about the typos. Kickstarter does not allow you to edit an update after it has been up for 30 minutes or so. We will have to do some weird stuff to fix them but they will get resolved. Just wanted to make sure you guys did not think we were ignoring the problem.

      any BM developed game i have played Paladin or Rogue. although playing a paladin in EQ1 was a spainful as it could get on Rallos Zek, tend towards Rogue class. Rogues were epic killers on PVP Vanguard server, and will likley go the same as primary in P:RofF

      I am not a fan of playing rogues normally, but this Planestalker sounds like fun. Really cool setup for the class. Pantheon is beginning to build up and I like what I see so far. :)

      "With unnatural perception the Rogue has learned to identify and tap into the many arcane auras that permeate the shadows of Terminus". This reminds me of The Cold Fire Trilogy by C.S. Friedman, and how the Fae was a visible mailable force. Think I found my class!

      Ooh! Not at all interested in the traditional rogue past (okay, maybe just an eensy-weensy bit) but the debuffer path is like... yeah wow, I love toying around with weakening effects. Now... fox/raki Plainstalker please now?
