More Screenshots of Sunken Sanctum, Tier Updates, and Later Today

Exciting updates today!

New Screens

Vu's been working hard on the Sunken Sanctum this week, and he just sent over some current screenshots of the area just outside of the dungeon's entrance. You'll see a night time and a day time capture of the area below.

New Tiers

Your feedback continues to be invaluable, and as an example of that, we've added two more really cool reward tiers in response to your suggestions.

The Cartographer's tier will get you into alpha and beta, name reservation, pledger's forum access post-kickstarter, two copies of the game, 'Pantheon Explorer' and 'Pantheon Founder' titles, the tunic, the mount, the pet AND a limited edition cloth map.

And, by extremely popular demand, we've added in the Journeyman's Pledge, which combines both $250 tiers of Paragon's Pledge and Pathfinder's Pledge so you get very early access to help us test, and the $1/year subscription rate. Again, please ONLY select this tier if you're very serious about testing and providing feedback and filling out surveys. The extra-early game access can be revoked if you are not participating.

Later Today...

Coming up later today in the spirit of Lore Week, our resident Loremaster, Tony 'Vhalen' Garcia will be letting you know the player's role in Terminus and how you fit in to the story of the pantheons.

Can't wait to share more, and thank you all once again for your continued support to this project.

      Very nice

      @Rick Small.....Well said.

That looks like a great solo area.

Just to add to what I said below, I wanted to emphasize that it's the little things that matter.

I still play EQ1 from time to time, still on my original character from 1999. And those experiences "growing" up in a scary world are still with me. Night being *dark* (and scary) so affected me that to this day, through every gear upgrade I have ever done, I have never - ever - not had something that granted me the ability to see in the dark. And Kedge Keep (?) is responsible for me always having something to allow me to breathe under water.

So many games are watered down for "convenience" that something gets lost along the way. My character is "all grown up" but because of those early experiences, my play style is forever altered. As it should be, imo.

Oh, didn't even see the post about it being darker down the road!!!

I feel the night time should be darker. I miss those old days where night time mattered :/ So far everything else seems on track so maybe that will happen!

Hunting Gnomes in the dark, how cool is that.. Dosi?

Old EQ1 with a night-blind race in East Commonlands = scary as hell.

      I loved it.

Yeah, took one look at that, thought Vanguard, I squee'd. Aweshumsawse indeed.

    10. Forlaen on January 22, 2014

@ Vu: I love you man :) For any C.S. Freidman fans, I want night like True Night on Erna, after Coreset

    11. Arctic_Slicer on January 22, 2014

Wow it reminds me of Qalia from Vanguard; that's a good thing.

    12. Phil Beadle on January 22, 2014

@Michael Enbom - If they're eventually going to a full EQ night time or close to it - then a true night time representative screenshot would just be black and not really useful for this post & the KS campaign. Maybe someone could comment on the actual plans for 'how dark' night time is planned to be at this point?

    13. Visionary Realms, Inc. Creator on January 22, 2014

Hey all, Vu here. No its not a night shot. Just a different skybox (since the other one didn't have clouds) with some different ambient light to test settings. And yes, the night should be much darker. :)

    14. Michael Enbom on January 22, 2014

Night time seems way to bright. Just me?

    15. Troy_Costisick on January 22, 2014

      Thanks for the response, Tony!

Way better graphics than I was expecting. Looks gorgeous, nothing like an "indie MMO". I am keen to see and end to that missing $608774 now. Time for old school gamers to put their money where their mouths is, and tell their friends.

    21. Liam Hall on January 22, 2014

      I'm Loving the lore Vhalen.

    22. Tony "Vhalen" Garcia on January 22, 2014

      Tony "Vhalen" Garcia here.

@Troy Within the ruined riddled highlands called the Wastes rests a large headland named Heroes End. All of this land was once the sprawling metropolis of an ancient race called the Celestials. When the planar collisions erupted, this land was torn asunder by the arrival of the fragments of other worlds. Much was buried or lost to the rising sea, but Heroes End and it’s temple, the Sunken Sanctum remained partially intact. Triundan (Human) historians have designated the area as the sacred grounds of the Celestials where they came to build a sanctum for their goddess, Nexus. The grounds around the temple and within hold the tombs of great warriors, placed to guard the temple for eternity. The temple is sunken into the ground and is rumored to have hundreds of chambers that reach deep into the ground. Unfortunately, all expeditions into the sanctum have failed to breach much more than a couple chambers. Traps, hidden doors and undead war wizards (the Spartan-like soldiers of the Celestials) keep the curious at bay.

This dungeon and its surrounding ground is not a low level or newbie experience. Only experienced adventurers should attempt to enter the Sunken Sanctum.

And if they are brave (or foolish) enough to do so, they should be well versed in the arcane language of the Celestials. There are most assuredly barriers sealed with powerful wards.

This looks great! Could you, perhaps, make the images click through to larger versions?

    24. Gott on January 22, 2014

This looks just like Vanguard, and that's not a bad thing. I've told so many people that I felt Vanguard should've been the best MMO out there, and that it had the best game mechanics. I just hope these guys are able to wait for a good release, so this game can thrive.

    25. Visionary Realms, Inc. Creator on January 22, 2014

@Troy I won't attempt to answer those questions as Tony has a very specific reason for this area and I don't want to give misinformation. I'll see if he can come and answer some of your Qs a bit later today.

@Bryan - Roleplaying is kind of a key element in designing a game in which players can really feel a part of the world. It's extremely important to consider it when developing a game that intends to suck you in and keep you intensely involved for the duration of your play session. As to the details of how we can make those hooks- that remains to be seen once we have a better grasp on our budget and resources. But for now I can say: support for roleplaying is of HIGH importance so we'll be looking at any way possible to add in those kinds of hooks.

    26. Liam Hall on January 22, 2014

This looks really sweet! THank you VR!

    27. Kuldiin on January 22, 2014

Looks more like twighlight than true night.

I also hope roleplaying is encouraged. Not a role player myself but roleplayers are a very important part of the MMO community.

    28. Dosi on January 22, 2014

      @ Bryan Bessette , that's a really good question :)
@ mkopec yea it could be a little darker

Pantheon Team, I apologize for the stupid question in advance...

Will roleplaying be supported at all in Pantheon? Sitting in chairs, emotes, costume layers, housing, etc. I'm curious because I like to feel like I could live in my MMOs.

I know this game won't be for everyone and it is intensely focused on PvE and grouping. I was just curious. I'd like to feel like I could live in the planar worlds. ;) I apologize again if this has been asked already, I haven't had a lot of time to read through the tidal wave of comments you guys are getting! =D

    31. Troy_Costisick on January 22, 2014

What else can you tell us about the Sunken Sanctum? Who made it? Why? Is it a lowbie dungeon or something for higher end characters? What is one unique thing about the dungeon, like does it require keys to get to certain areas like Befallen or does it have jail cells like Crushbone/Najena or something else?

    32. mkopec on January 22, 2014

Looks good but night time is not dark enough IMO.

    33. Dosi on January 22, 2014

Nice !! the new pledges look good
