After performing on many recordings, both as a band member and as a studio musician, I decided that it was time to make my first solo CD. While I am very proud of that collaborative work, I felt the need to produce something that was of my own musical vision; a narrative of the music, people and events that have shaped me as a musician and as a person. This narrative unfolds across 10 tracks conceptualized as Short Stories.
This CD is a blend of the many styles that have influenced me over the years: the classic rock guitar of my early years, the classical guitar studied in college, the freedom of jazz that I was exposed to in my 20s, the infectious sounds of world music from far away cultures, the visceral rhythms of funk and R&B, and the grounding sounds of the blues.
I applied for and received a regional artist grant from the Arts and Science council. This highly competitive grant has helped pay for the recording studio time that I needed. It also allowed me to gather my "dream team" of musicians to help my vision come to fruition.
- George Porter Jr--Bass
- Jim Brock--Percussion
- Adam Snow--Drums
- Lovell Bradford--Keyboards
The recording is now complete, and I am raising money to offset the upfront costs of mixing, mastering, and duplication. This is where I need your help. I am hoping to pre-sell enough CDs and Downloads to help with the last big expense of the project.
Any amount of support is helpful and sincerely appreciated.
Risks and challenges
While there have certainly been risks and challenges during this process the hard part is done...the end is in sight. All the recording has been completed, the tunes have been rough mixed, and the artwork is complete. The only holdup is the funding for final mixing, mastering, and duplication. With your help the final step can be made.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
