Mac & Son is a store-bought Mac & Cheese that rivals homemade. We use an authentic Mac & Cheese recipe with a béchamel (white sauce) base. Just, add your own milk, butter & heat to make a rich, creamy sauce – just like homemade. No cornstarch. No artificial thickeners. No oil-based products. We use better cheese, a better sauce with a real roux & better ridged pasta . We even include a crouton-crumble topping to add a pleasant crunch.
Mac & Son is Mac & Cheese made better.
I came-up with the idea for Mac & Son while I was making a typical store-bought Mac & Cheese for my young son.
I looked at what I was making and asked myself…
Why does Mac & Cheese from a package look & taste so much less appealing than the Mac & Cheese I can make from scratch or order from restaurant?
After looking at the ingredients list & doing a little research, the answer was apparent…there’s no recipe. There's nothing in the mix that will create a proper sauce. It’s just a box of industrial ingredients, no matter what brand you use.
Our approach is different. We start with an authentic recipe for great Mac & Cheese and found a way to make it easy to store & prepare at home.
We are starting with three deluxe flavors:
- Classic Cheddar with Sea-Salt & Butter Crouton Topping
- Parmesan Cream with Sea-Salt & Butter Crouton Topping
- White Cheddar with Sea-Salt & Butter Crouton Topping
In the near future we are looking at adding a variety of other chef inspired flavors like:
- Swiss & Mushroom with Garlic & Butter Crouton Topping
- Cheddar, Onion & Bacon with Sea-Salt & Butter Crouton Topping
- Swiss & French Onion with Garlic & Butter Crouton Topping
- And more…

Our main focus for improvement is production scale. We are already producing small batches out of a well equipped commercial startup kitchen in Brooklyn. We have finished our recipe & secured access to top quality ingredients suppliers.
