tl;dr  Production mishap torpedoed schedule, but shipping to backers has begun.  Non-US backers still have a fair shot at receiving their pledges in 2017.  North and South American backers are looking into the new year.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

When we post updates, we do so with the best information available at the time.  Obviously, we always try to find ways to present it in a positive light.  Where there's an issue, we feel bound to report it honestly, but we also want to be able to detail a solution.  Sometimes this necessitates a longer delay between updates than we would like, and this last month has been an example.

Our shipping schedule slipped because one of our suppliers failed to meet their obligations, and unfortunately did not resolve the situation until just recently.  They are an ancillary product maker, but due to our rewards structure, virtually every campaign backer was entitled to the item.  Since we couldn't afford to double ship, we had to wait for the producer, and hence the delay.

Ultimately, of course, this is entirely our responsibility.  By describing the cause, I am in no way attempting to shift blame, but it is rather simply in furtherance of our commitment to keep the community informed.

As a consequence of this delay, we've only just been able to begin fulfillment.  The first actual (as opposed to sample) shipments begun yesterday.

Backers residing outside North and South America will have their pledges fulfilled directly from our Chinese production site.  That process is currently ongoing, and expected to take all of the next week.

We explored shipping to North and South American backers in the same manner, but unfortunately the process just isn't the same.  So the materials needed for those backers has to be fulfilled by us here in the U.S.  This means North and South American backers will be waiting into 2018.

That's how things stand now.

@Jean-Pierre Ollivier Backers residing in regions other than North and South America are having their pledges fulfilled individually directly from China, but I'm not exactly sure which order they are using (backer order, ease in packing, region/country, etc).

As we receive confirmation of shipment from the factory, we send out the tracking numbers to individual backers. However, there is lag time due to the difference in time zones and reporting from the factory to us, then us to the backer.

At the start of this process, we had been told that they should be able to process all the non-North/South American backers this week, which means those pledges mailed out at the start of the week may very well arrive by xmas, though those later almost certainly won't.

If, however, fulfillment takes longer than the initial estimate we were given, that will of course result in additional delays.

Sorry for the late query, but when you speak of direct fulfilment from China for places like Europe, should I infer that it is popped in the post and hopefully finds its way here through the Xmas mail? Or does it get sent to a European sorting and distributing?

And kudos for the work to date!

Of course I'm a bit disappointed, but I greatly appreciate the update. Life doesn't always work the way we want, and your directly addressing the matter is helpful.

Transparency and Honesty go a long, long way. All of us who work in manufacturing understand what it means when a supplier doesn't ship on time and how it borks the entire process from the point of that product. Keep up the good work, keep up the quality and keep on being awesome at communicating :)

      Horizon - Thanks for Clarifying.
Jacques - I did read the last paragraph but the TL;DR at the start read Non-US and as a Non-US location it can be confusing. Some projects have different shipping/fulfillment requirements for US and Canada. Just wanted clarity.
Now if I could get some serenity, that would be great too. have a good weekend everyone!

Sorry about the confusion and the default-Americanness. Non-US is a useful shorthand internally, but in actuality, all North and South American backers are in the same situation.

Pardon my early morning confusion but does this mean that me, a Canadian (Non-US) backer, can hopefully receive the game before end of 2017? Or does it mean that me, A North American backer will likely get in in 2018?
Thanks for clarifying and Thanks for the update!
