An animated comedy/fantasy series that follows Doraleous & his associates as they travel Nudonia righting wrongs & promoting freedom.
In a land called Nudonia, one man seeks to bring freedom to all. Anyone living in fear, anyone being oppressed, anyone losing their grip on freedom, now have someone to turn to. They can turn to Doraleous & Associates...for a small fee. Or a big fee.
In 2009, Doraleous and Associates' first two seasons originally launched on the internet. But since the show is much more labor intensive than some of their other animated series, Hank and Jed cannot afford to rely on strictly views to make the show happen. Doraleous is near and dear to the team's heart, and we all hope together we can save Nudonia.
Risks and challenges Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
The challenges of creating this series are great as it takes many many hours to create every movement of every character, along with creating new backgrounds and action sequences. The musical score is also a challenge as we want this series to feel as epic as any action adventure.
However, we've already overcome these obstacles 36 times in the first 36 episodes, so you can be certain with the help of the money raised we will continue to expand the amazing world of Doraleous and Associates.
He's an 11.
Does 75k cover the costs only to finish the season? Does the next season being made require us to reach a goal of 225k on the kickstarter?
Yes. $75,000 to complete 12 episodes. If we find that we can squeeze more episodes out of this money we certainly will. See update #2 on Kickstarter for how the money gets spent.
A freak accident.
We can try, but the little fat bastard seems to have ways of bouncing back.
Will we be able to pick the tshirt size (that we donated for) we want after you've raised the money?
Good question. Yes. After the campaign is over, we will ask everyone for their appropriate size.
Besides Facebook, what other means are you using to get the word out about D&A, and the kickstarter? Do you have a twitter account? Are you on reddit? What are your plans to get more fans? I am spreading the word where I can, but I feel like I could do mo
Everything you said is being done. The only thing left is to have all 10,000+ fans introduce the show to 10+ fans.
There will always be bitches in the world.
How haven't you been picked up my a benefactor, nay, a network yet? There are four things I like to watch: Breaking Bad, Walking Dead, Archer and D&A. All are of the same caliber in way of entertainment. D&A must live!
We've pitched to every network, but most of them don't have a demographic as clever as ours. The few networks that were interested wanted to change everything on a shoestring budget.
OR we've approached every network and they said and I don't quote "Our demographic is morons and this shit is too clever. Please move along." The ones that were willing to give it a shot only wanted to air it for free.
We wish. Motion capture would be easy. We have to manipulate every movement of every character including their pie holes.
Why a kickstarter for D&A and not for Hank and Jed? How are your other projects funded? Are your other projects more lucrative? Am I correct in in assuming that your other projects pay the bills, but D&A is your favorite, you just can't get backing for it
The shows that we are still creating are generating enough views to pay for their cost. Doraleous is much more difficult and time consuming and may take some time to reach that level. (see update #2 on kickstarter)
You must be a competent warrior, who will follow orders and move swiftly in the heat of battle. You must have a desire to help all citizens and races of Nudonia. You must vow to protect the values of justice and fairness in a world full of many different ideals and cultures. You must also have personal life insurance.
Why has it been so hard for this show to obtain professional backing (such as Machinima) and why did The Escapist stop producing it? Was it due to low viewings?
The Escapist ran into financial troubles. We hate that it happened but each episode takes a ton of time to produce, and without any sort of funding we had to stop making episodes. We were planning on going back but times kept getting tougher.
Machinima has helped us get the word out there, but Doraleous does not generate enough views to be a candidate for funding.
We own complete rights to this show and would certainly consider any offer made to keep this show going.
I don’t think it’s a lot of money to ask for... it’s not enough imo. For the time and energy you put in. Im surprised its so low.
It is low when you understand the costs involved, but we believe in this show and know it could be huge.
Kickstarter is all or nothing. If we don’t raise the money, we don’t get the money. In other words, backers will not get charged for a donation until all funds are raised.
Any chance for Season 1 to get a Blu-ray release? Or maybe even a Doraleous and Associate game (could be smartphone but my preference is consoles)?
That is definitely something we are looking into.
Hard to give you a definite date, but we can say we are going to get to work on the show immediately if the money is raised.
I know a Wetald that could use a spleen.
Who gets credit for writing the lines for the lady in the lake? She is written genuinely and cracks me up every-time, please have more of her sass.
Ooh, she is quite a character. I believe there is this brilliant actor named Tony Schnur that writes her so eloquently. He should get an award for all things he writes.
