Faces of Places has been my Passion Project for the past four years. No one pays me to go on these trips, but I have found it my calling to share the beautiful people of this world with you. It all started when I was on an 11 month missions trip that took me to 11 countries in a year. As I journeyed from place to place across different continents and cultures, there was a similarity in the people that I began to notice. I saw that we were all human and created in the same Image. We all have eyes and ears, a mouth and a nose. We all have thoughts and emotions, triumphs and struggles. We all have people we love and want to take care of and we all are trying to survive. I believe this is a powerful message in this day and age when we let petty little arguments separate us. We allow race and color of skin divide us instead of noticing the ways we are so similar. I hope that Faces of Places and flipping through my book can allow us to all become more understanding humans and help us focus on the humanity that we all share and celebrate the cultural differences that make us each unique.
The past year I made it my mission to compare and contrast what it is like to live on an island nation, surrounded and isolated by water. How would that effect people's culture and daily lives. I traveled to islands in the South Pacific, Caribbean, and the Atlantic Ocean. I went to Iceland, Japan, Cuba, Indonesia, and 5 other nations to complete this project. Now it is your turn to go to these places. Flip through the pages of 'Surrounded by the Sea' and meet the people that I met, and see the landscapes that I captured and from the comfort of your living room, explore this beautiful plant that we share with 7 billion other humans.
Your support is much appreciated as I plan to continue my mission!
