About this project
Are you used to role-playing games? And what about tabletop RPGs?
If your answer is affirmative, you just found a game thought for you.
We introduce you to an RPG for PC, simple to learn and on which the possibilities only depend on you.
Gods among Pirates will introduce the character of the Master, not as an enemy in PVP but as another player with its own goals.
The God will have the control of everything and everyone in the world (enemies, allies, neutral NPCs, etc.) and will have its own objectives that need to be achieved while the other players (the pirates) play the story.
The game keeps the essence of a shared control of the story that the classic RPGs have, in which a master player creates a story setting while others play it, and where everyone’s choices can shape the direction and outcome of the adventure in real time.
All the game’s interactions are done from heroes to master and vice versa, meaning that even talking with an NPC turns into a real conversation with the master player of the story.

The god player of the game will control the environment and every character on it except the players and their actions; this fact will make the master adapt when the heroes make a decision.
While the team of pirates explore the map trying to accomplish an objective, they will also have to adapt to the changes the can occur on the adventure and be over the difficulties in order to complete their mission, one way or another.
And all this occurs in Real Time.
Including real time combat and also real time conversations between characters, which give the players opportunities to change the story with their own decisions.
On each game, you will be free to join the adventures as an omnipotent god and be the master, or, take the role of a legendary pirate, who doesn’t know what challenges will face each time because every adventure will be controlled by the master, capable of making a sudden plot twist.
What is the master of the game?
The master is the player that controls the story and the environment in which the heroes play.
As the master you will have to create a main objective, diverse challenges that the heroes will face and a map for the adventure (or take a predefined one). You can even share your map creations with other masters!
A characteristic worth highlighting is that destroying the heroes is not the objective of the master and neither is to make them fail the main objective. To clarify, the true objective of the master will be to complete his/her own challenges during the game while the main objective is being completed one way or another.
Which is the master’s main role in Gods among Pirates?
On its role of an omnipotent god, and from an aerial point of view, this player will be in charge of observing, luring and leading the heroes at will. The master will decide which information to give about the adventure and will also adjust his/her strategy in order to achieve his/her goals. At the same time, the heroes will decide what to do every time the master gives them some information through the characters that inhabit the story’s map.
This way, a shared control of the adventure is created: The master will adapt to the actions and decisions of the heroes, because they may have a different plan.
The difficulty of a game will be decided by the master before the match starts; the heroes will also select the kind of difficulty level that they are ready to face. The multiplayer matchmaking will keep this in mind; and, during the adventure, the master will have to achieve the selected difficulty.
As a God, you will have omnipotence during combat situations. A great variety of powers will be at your disposal that, with a resource cost, will help you control your units and give them orders.
Furthermore, the master will be able to possess every neutral or hostile character and then control it from a third person view and with the same combat system as the heroes.
To finish with the master, we will briefly explain about customization. This aspect is not only present on the heroes with their aesthetic elements; the master will also have a variety of unlockable powers, new map tiles and sets of different units. All together, these elements will help the master create more interesting adventures each time.
What can I do if I want to be a legendary pirate?
First of all, you have to know that you, as a hero, can play completely your way and take your prefered role inside the group.
As pirates, you will equip yourself with the characteristic elements of your chosen class on each match. Furthermore, you will also have slots where you can equip a great variety of customization elements: pirate hats, bandana, capes, armour, robe, and many other.
And what about my stats?
Here comes the interesting part. The stats not only affect your character’s combat capabilities, they even determine your communication skills with other characters when out of combat. An example would be that during a conversation with an NPC that you found on your adventure, your character may have different dialog options unlocked depending on your stats.
As a great example of this aspect, a character with a very high ferocity stat, will have an amazing physical strength, very useful during combats…but it is very probable that this character doesn’t know how to behave friendly on a conversation with an NPC; this may result in tending to solve the problems through intimidation methods…who doesn’t like to achieve their goals by intimidating once in awhile?
As you can see, being a hero in this game won’t limit you to do things one way. Achieving your desired intentions will only depend on you and your interpretation ingenuity when playing your hero.
Apart from watching the situation from the skies, the master will have to communicate with the group of heroes to give them the convenient information, and thus achieve the objectives that you may have in mind.
This communication is done through the NPC’s that the heroes talk to.
You, the master, will decide what the NPC will tell, answer, how it is said and even you will be able to control if you want the NPC to try to lie (giving false information).
Welcome to a 3D world and immerse yourself in a steampunk fantasy where you will encounter plenty of pirates, floating islands and flying ships; everything decorated with metal pieces and plenty of steam, the main fuel of the world.
We are still working on the art of the game and we are open to new ideas! Do you think we should tend to a more realistic artstyle or a cartoonish one?

A summary about how will be the life of a god among pirates?
On this world the different groups of pirates will be exploring a great variety of floating islands, but they won’t be alone. They will have to adventure under the rules of their gods, which are always watching and can control everything, except the free will of the heroes. The pirates will have to adapt to unexpected changes or find a way to avoid the rules to complete the adventure their way.
Everyone on our team love tabletop RPGs.
The team came together because we share the idea that the feeling of pen-and-paper RPGs can be transmitted on a videogame.
We need your help with this project, because making a game is not easy and requires a lot of work and money.
The money will be spent as seen on the graph:
As you can see a 75% will be destined to the Game development, distributed among all the project branches.
Multiplayer programming & servers take a 40% and Art & animation another 25% whereas Design and Gameplay programming take a little percentage due to currently being on a more advanced state of development.
As you can see on the image, the rest of the percentage will be as follows: 15% for reward fulfillment and 10% of the money for the kickstarter fees and payment processing.
We have already been working on the project for half a year, and we invested our own money on it.
But now the team needs to grow if we want to successfully complete the project.
Even if we reach our goal on kickstarter, which is not all the money required to develop this kind of game, we will keep investing our own money still. In order to make all your money worth for the project, we tried to reduce the amount of physical elements on the rewards.

Our ideal release date would be march 2017 and we have plans to ensure that. But even the best plans can fail.
The team needs to grow and, even if we have a detailed plan, it may take time to find the profesional profiles that we need.
We hope that we won't find too many unexpected events during our journey but, even if we do, we will try our best to keep our schedule.
