Hello, legendary underground guitarist Alan Jenkins here. My new album, the subject of this Kickstarter, is called "Disaster Cake Interrogation Bunny". You can get it for nine quid including UK postage. It will come in a digipak and it has songs on it. There's one in the video.
This crowdfunding thing is turning into a Cordelia Records annual sale. All the other items in the "rewards" are albums that I've played on.
I should point out that the Cordelia CDs are generally quite nice objects to have. All the old Deep Freeze Mice albums from the '80s, for instance, have been remastered, stuffed with bonus tracks and mostly come with fat booklets full of interesting pictures and writing. This is the new edition of the "I Love You Little Bo Bo with your Delicate Golden Lions" double album from 1984....
This is the new edition of the first Ruth's Refrigerator album...
...I remixed that one last year and its sounds lovely. Here is "Well, that about wraps it up for the sea"...
...and here is a review of it by Chris Cutler:
JENKINS, ALAN (ed): Well, That About Wraps It Up For The Sea This superb and frankly unbelievable (ESM ™)* compilation culled from an infinity of parallel universes features multiple (and extreme) interpretations of The Beatles’ She Loves You - ‘universally acknowledged the best pop song’ - kicking off with our own Kettering Vampires (of The Kettering Vampires play Nico & the Velvet Underground fame), after which all cosmic hell breaks loose – in a suitably sedate, anachronistic, polystylistic, willful and mind-blistering way. Apart from being a joy to listen to (there’s a message there) and highly intelligent, this record, by its very form, makes more illuminating commentaries on the nature of style, music, recording aesthetics, fashion, genius and culture than a library full of musicological analyses. It’s lived philosophy. And it’s also funny. If you think you can sort of imagine what this CD is like, trust me, it’s better. My record of the year so far. * Experimental Surf Music, a concept fully explained in Jenkins’ lapidary liner notes.
That sounds good doesn't it?
Some of the others, "Year of the Dog" by The Thurston Lava Tube and "Free Surf Music #3" for instance have extra albums in mp3 format and/or videos on them.
Risks and challenges
Don't worry. It'll be fine. Most likely the CDs will be ready within a few days of the end of the project.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
