2nd STRETCH GOAL REACHED! VINYL!
We blew through that $14,000 dollar goal for vinyl and it makes me so happy that I have decided to give everyone that took the time out of their day to contribute to my project a FREE vinyl in addition to the rewards they have already signed up for. That's right! EVERYONE! It's my 36th birthday tomorrow April 17th and this is my birthday present to myself. Anyone that contributes more than $25 (The Real Deal) from here on out will also receive a free vinyl..
EXCLUSIVE ARTWORK FOR THE VINYL
Don't have a turntable? Don't worry, I plan to include a download card along with the vinyl packaging so you can drop it on your favorite digital listening device. Some people would rather display a vinyl record as artwork than listen to it and I am cool with that too. On that note I will be featuring alternate album artwork exclusively for the vinyl. This will be a limited edition piece folks. I will only print 500 of these ever.
1st STRETCH GOAL REACHED! A VIDEO!
We raised $12,000 together and I will be shooting a professional music video with the team that shot my kickstarter video. Thank you so much for helping me reach this goal! I will be sure to update all of you when the video is available for viewing and sharing.
Friends, family, and fans!
Thank you very much for taking time out of your day to check in on my project! I'm very excited to let everyone know that I have a new collection of original tunes written and ready to be released. It's time I properly record these songs and give them a life of their own. The new album will be titled Bleed Like You Bleed. These songs are snapshots of my life and I want to share them with you. I can't wait for you to hear and feel these songs! This is where your support can make the difference. Check out the opportunities on the right hand side of this page, there is something for everyone. Kickstarter is an all or nothing fundraising tool, so every little bit helps!
Here's a sample of one of the tunes for the new album, featuring Phoebe Parros on violin.

I have been working on pre-production for the album for three months now and have one studio session under my belt, so things are well on their way. I am lucky enough to have great friends, many of whom are musicians, and artists, and they have already helped me make great progress. Keep in mind the budget you see below is really a heck of a deal. My longtime friend Mike McLaughlin (very talented, musician and producer), has already spent countless hours planning and producing the new record, and we look forward to many more hours together, to bring this album to completion. Oh yeah, he will also be playing bass, lead guitar, and some organ (the man is talented!). I rely on great friends like Mike and yourself to join me through this process. I am after all, a one man show. It's also a good thing I am a graphic and web designer by trade and will be able to keep costs down, when it comes to album artwork, posters, and a new website. Even with all this help and luck, I am looking at another $10,000 to do this right. And folks, I want to do this right!
- $2,250 - 30 hours at Sutton Sound Recording
- $2,500 - Album Mixing with Pete Murray
- $500 - Album Mastering at Sutton Sound
- $1,200 - Hired Musicians
- $2,500 - CD Duplication & Packaging
- $50 - Digital distribution through iTunes, Amazon, Spotify, etc.
- $1,000 - Kickstarter & Amazon Service Fee
Total Project Goal = $10,000
Like many solo artists I have a unique process for producing and recording an album, different from a traditional band. I generally take the stage by myself and all of these songs were written by me. When I want to take these tunes to a full production level it takes quite a bit of effort to get them there. I need a producer, an engineer, someone to mix, and musicians for every other instrument I hear in my head.
- Mike McLaughlin (producer, bass, electric leads, organ)
- Phoebe Parros (violin, viola)
- Kenny Hutson (pedal steel, banjo, pump organ, electric leads)
- Dean Giles (drums)
- Natalie Haskins (backup vocals)
- Jarred Houston (drums - for live tracks)
- Lynn Asher (backup vocals)
- Terry Lawless of U2 (hammond organ, piano)
If you have a heart at all the Kickstarter video above must have touched you in one way or another. I owe all of this to an amazing team consisting of Ilja Maran (Director), Nate Klein (Cinematography), and Jodi Yee (Production Assistant).

Risks and challenges
If this project is successfully funded, there are not too many risks or challenges facing the delivery of the product. I have a clear idea of what I'm going to do, and after self-producing my first album, I know exactly what it takes to get there. Most importantly, I have wonderful collaborators on board to create a high-quality album.
The only real risk or challenge I can foresee is if the project really takes off, it would take a little more time to produce extra T-Shirts, Koozies, and Hard Copies of the Album. BUT, these are ultimately good things, I would be more than happy to do a second run of any of these items if the project reaches this level.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
