Big update incoming.

Hello everyone,

I just wanted to take a moment to update you all on a major update we have decided we need to make in the next couple of days.

We are going to be focusing on updating the the front page of the kickstarter. We are doing this because we know we need to include a lot more in depth information to new potential contributors, as well as all of our existing contributors. We have been getting a lot of feedback saying that we need to quickly update our presentation to include a proper "What is Civitas" video, and update all of the images to reflect the shape that the game actually is in now (much better than it was then). This will allow us to do two things, answer the questions you have about the gameplay in Civitas, and show you more updated game play and features. This will be beneficial for everyone that has contributed, and everyone that might possibly want to. We have a lot of people out there that are willing to contribute or up their contribution based on us presenting more information. Which is what we all agree we need to do.

So we will be combing through the forum, our messages, and comments to see what people want to know, and we are going to get them the information. If you have any questions about the technical aspects of Civitas (localization, graphic style, traffic modeling, etc.) please message me so that we can add any information you need during the update.

We will be releasing the main video and some other smaller feature videos shortly after updating the front page. This will be sort of our "Relaunch" that should make us much much more likely to hit our goal, and be able to bring you this great game. This will need to happen quickly, we want to have it done before the halfway point of the kickstarter gets here, which is right around the corner.

Thank you all once again for the support, and we look forward to hearing from you!

If no update by noon tomorrow my pledge goes back to a dollar.... They need to learn for EA and Maxis and NOT leave us in the dark for any amount of time

One starts to wonder if the "Big Update" will ever arrive ...

When I first found out about this kickstarter (3 days after it launched), I read the description on the home page, and because I'm so disappointed in what SimCity 5 turned out to be, I pledged $25.

You're now two weeks into the project, essentially the halfway point, and you've still not uploaded a proper pitch video, we still don't know the people that are developing the game (other than two guys standing in front a camera, one of which only says two words), and we still haven't seen the game's prototype in action other than a rudimentary terraforming tool, which included a lot of visual glitches.

For those reasons, I've changed my pledge from $25 to $1. If in the second half of this project you prove to me that this is something worth backing, I'll restore my pledge. I really, really want a good, modern city-building game, but at this point in time, I don't have much confidence that Civitas could be that game.

Come on guys its been 3 days..... wheres any of these updates? You're almost halfway to your goal amount and 2 days before the time halfway point!! Show us something we can really believe in and watch that pledge amount continue to soar

I arrived at your Kickstarter page today, and I was rather disappointed there was no introduction video at the top. People are used to this by now for serious Kickstarter projects, and the absence of a video presenting the project on your page is probably driving some people away. I'm glad to hear you're working on it, try to get it in place as fast as possible.
And good luck with Civitas, I'm very much looking forward to this game!

Is our update ready? Looking forward to seeing where our money is going! So far, right on track with dollars/days left!

A relaunch to make it easier to hit your goal? You're several days away from being halfway your campaign, and you're pretty close to being halfway your monetary goal. Don't be so negative. The second half of the campaign in most Kickstarter project doesn't do worse than the first half and usually does better. Your progress so far has been very strong. Releasing that main video is a very good idea of course, though.

I agree with previous commenters. Although I am not convinced (by the myriad of people on the internet) that this is a scam or vaporware, I do think it would be good for the Kickstarter and the backers to see a bit more about the project, the creators, and the direction. Especially since you have less than half of your needed funding with 19 days left.

A video of gameplay, more 'current' art / progress, and a lot more transparency about the studio, involved parties, and previous industry experience (if any; if none, make that clear), would go a long way towards calming those who think this is a fake. I certainly hope it's real, it could be pretty awesome.

You guys also need to be more forthcoming with who's on your team and what your credentials are. There's starting to be some negative publicity in some forums about this project, mainly because nobody knows who's involved and what you've worked on previously. I'm really hoping this project works out, and it would suck to see it not happen just because you guys jumped into the Kickstarter without adequate advance preparation.

Gameplay video needs to be put out right away in order to reach your goal quickly. The SimCity news will likely become old news soon, so as others have said, get it done and send it to some famous youtubers and Twitch players!

I keep getting tons of emails, which is nice on one level, because I find the game exciting, but on the other hand -- do you have enough time to focus on actually making the game?

      Can't please everyone, I know.

I'm curious about the kind of economic modeling that the game will contain. Sim City has always been limited in how the economy behaves. No inflation and very limited supply and demand, limited taxes. How about things like public vs private health clinics? At least Sim City contains private schools. Open TTD allows you to customise how volatile the economy is. Any such plans?

I do enjoy building really big cities, especially sense ones that require a subway network, but it's always annoyed me that it's not possible to integrate subway stations into existing buildings (this often happens with London Underground stations).

Aside from the ingame technical aspects, I´d like to know what specs my computer needs to have to run Civitas. Will it work on older systems, too?

I agree with Bakshi.. it's critical to spread the word about this project. More and more articles are surfacing, and the more coverage the better.
