Frequently Asked Questions
When entering the reward for the Zambezi trip ($2500), we made a typo on the delivery date that cannot be easily changed. The trip was intended only for next month, December 2015 but since it created some confusion and is too much of a last minute idea for some, we are now offering guided trips in both December 2015 and 2016. You will see the options in the rewards column now. Once you pledge at either option, we will be in steady comms to organize your trip and are available for questions at any time! We'd love to hear from you and share more details!Last updated:
The Zambezi is warm, deep, easy to pick apart, easy to scout and easy to portage. All rapids are short, ending in drop pools. December is still low water (15 000 cfs) and a good time for all paddlers. Surely, you will flip over and potentially swim, but that is what makes it so good for learning. Experienced paddlers intentionally run hard lines on the rapids but we’re there to make sure you are on the right lines for your skill level. The Zambezi is commercially rafted with one mandatory portage. We will take you out of your comfort zone, but will also ensure you have a safe, enjoyable trip. Our job will be to help you scout, decide, portage and run rapids successfully, and perhaps pick up the pieces in the pools below :-) We can tailor the experience to your level, trust us.
Benny and Steve are the lead instructors and will be rotating between two groups, who will be divided based on skill level plus we will be hiring local safety boaters. There are various put in and take out points that will be customized for each paddler. This is the perfect river to mix experience levels so rest assured that we will maximize the experience for you. And just because you don't run certain rapids, doesn't mean you sit on the shore either, we intend to fill your days with fun, comfortable learning.
We are here for any questions so please reach out at any time! We have gathered lots of detailed info about every aspect of the trip that we would love to share if you are interested!Last updated:
No! The Zambezi has it all. Steve and Benny will be alternating between two groups based on skill level. While some paddlers run the easy line of a rapid, we will show you the more difficult lines and ensure you get pushed to the edge of your learning curve. You will also be able to ramp up to the harder rapids while others may walk them. Don't worry mates, it's going to be a blast!
If you are at all interested, please reach out! We have lots of details to share to ensure you are super dialed and super stoked for this trip :)Last updated:
Once our campaign is closed and we begin reward fulfillment, you will receive a survey asking who your first choice of instructor will be. We will especially be in good comms with our VIPs (paddling trip backers) and will chat about options. Many of the boys travel- perhaps you want to meet them somewhere, perhaps they will be near you at some point. We will look at a timeline of the next year or so for you and your 'pro' to sort the details. The Southeast US and Pacific Northwest are probably easy options for starters. We will also sort out the best river or type of river to paddle so that you get a fulfilling experience.
Please reach out with questions! We really want to take y'all paddling!Last updated:
We've tried to create a variety of pledge options and packages but we've had a few folks with special requests. If you would like something that you don't see laid out (within reason), please send us an email and we will accommodate. Many paddling trip backers have asked for gear as Kickstarter only allows you to pledge at one tier. So if you want two packages, please reach out to us so that we can ensure we give proper instructions on upgrading and make sure your requests are noted internally. We will especially be in good comms with our VIPs to sort trips so rest assured that we will take care of you! We not only want to reach our goal but we want everyone to be stoked!
Please reach out with any questions!Last updated:
Of course! The world needs more friends like you! If you purchase, say a paddling trip, just let us know who is coming instead! For other products, we will gather shipping information once we have funded and begin fulfillment.Last updated:
