A project for funding REINA, Mónica Félix's first solo show at Museo de las Américas in Old San Juan, PR.
This Kickstarter project mission is to raise money to finance photographer Mónica Félix's first solo show at Museo de las Américas in Old San Juan, Puerto Rico.
REINA (spanish for queen) is the frame name for a series of self-portraits and photographs that together tell the story of a female reaching a change period, from being girl to a "complete" woman and mother. The production of these images serves as an inspired essay by the daughter-mother relationship experience, yet she includes many cinematic and literature references in this body of work. The exhibit is set up so as to be read like a diary and underline the artist’s practice of sentimental purposed lighting and self-portraiture. These are original works, new productions first presented at the Center of Continuing and Professional Studies Gallery at Pratt Manhattan. Currently, the exhibition got chosen to be part of the upcoming shows at the Museo de las Américas in San Juan, Puerto Rico, marking a crossroads in Félix's career as an artist with her first solo show in an museum gallery.
Your donation will help with:
1. Payment of the exhibition gallery
2. Mounting of the work
3. Transportation and expenses of assembly dates
