A Very Long Blurb:
The Book of Ominiue Part I: Starborn
Earth has expanded beyond its own Solar System, reaching out to hundreds of worlds. The greatest mystery is that many of these habitable worlds are already colonised by humans, leaving a burning question. How? But as this anomaly becomes just another part of life Earthmen curiosity wanes. That is until they discover the first 'true' alien life: the lionmen.
The native aliens had a legend. One day a people from the stars would come to their world. The prophecy foretold that amongst them would be one man who was not like the others, and this man would bring back their god from oblivion.
Shayne Forrester is one of the new colonists. He was employed as the head physicist and the planet-side coordinator in constructing the "Gateway" the hyperspace jump point that would connect the new world to the Union, but he suffered a rare degeneration that stripped him of his colonisation rights. The moment the native aliens met him they held no doubt that he was the one .
Forced between the prophecies of the new world and his duty to the colony Shayne embarks upon an adventure of discovery. With help from a native scholar Shayne uncovers a world rich in culture and myths. A world that is vastly different from the one he came from, and constantly his understanding of the universe is tested as strange events unfold around him. As he struggles against the powers that surround him he is slowly forced into the prophecies and knowledge that his actions would affect not only the planet but that of every world.

What Your Pledgers Will Achieve:
My dream is to publish my novel which I have been working on for far-far-far too long. My hurdle is being a poor beggar living between meth heads and people who like techno music, with recreational activities including pulling out a chainsaw on your neighbours, (true story.) As such I've never been in a position where I could afford a professional editor ... and sure I could go the way of so many other self published dreamers and just skip the editors who aren't my mum or my brothers dog but let's face it. Everybody needs a professional editor, especially when they're mildly dyslexic (like me, but score! I can spell better than my cat [which is why he isn't one of my editors])
On top of the editor I'll be able to self publish my book and if the money raised goes above the basic needs of this project (fingers crossed) I can get a special edition made up which will be numbered and have some added features (oh the excitement for those of us who have OCD and ECGD [Extra content Geek Disorder])

Why This Project?
Why my book? the first part is already written and at 144k words it’s fairly hefty too. It has been finished for some time. The problem is editing and publishing. That's where I am appealing to you to help me complete my dream. With your help I will have an end product to offer the world. Not only that but I will be able to continue writing part II (yes I have been writing it.)
Goals
Basic Goal: Basic goal is simple. It is to get a professional to edit followed by self publishing through Lulu and Smashwords. Your pledges here will reward you with thanks, digital copies, physical copies, art prints and original artwork.
Stretch Goals:
First Stretch: Ideally I need two edits. The basic goal covers an Australian/British edition book. so that means it has realise instead of realize. 'Single' quotation marks for dialogue instead of "double" etc. The First Stretch will offer an American edition. This is effectively doubling the money needed. and will allow those confused readers who only understand American to read American and not get offended by that pesky English spelling. Spelling from the motherland? No way we can’t have that! --- sarcasm aside, indie writers from outside America have had issues with reviews from those who don’t understand that England, Scotland, Wales, Ireland, Australia, South Africa and New Zealand do do things differently. Also alternatives are nice.
Second Stretch: This is the place I want to be, but the price tag is a little crazy. I dream of special editions filled with wonderful but ultimately pointless extras, a perfect gift for the obsessed. That is, a special limited first edition hardcover. It will be signed and numbered with extra artwork, a section on how and where my ideas came from (maybe,) and a couple of dreams that inspired it. (part II extras include a short story, also inspired by a dream.) Those who brought a high end pledge will be upgraded to the special edition ... note this one will still occur even if stretch goal is not meet, it just means that the books will not be made straight away. I would rather avoid this though and I would also love to reward these editions to my backers.
Third Stretch: This is the extreme scenario incase I get a secret pledge that ends up being more than I earn in a year (yeah right) it won't occur but we all dream anyway. This will fund a comic-con journey around Australia (sorry rest of world I don't own a passport) Where I will have a table and use the money raised for travel and sleeping expenses. If lucky I will also create some awesome cut outs and merchandise (where the real money from the movie is made) … I’ll try and make the Melbourne events anyway. I’m sure I can con someone into being a taxi.
Other expenses:

Risks and challenges
The Risks are limited. I have already finished the final draft. And the amount of self edits are staggering. My computer says 7 but it's more like a temperamental teenager age.
The greatest risk is that I need a professional editor and it will take time for her to edit it. She is quick and dependable, but books are long and time consuming beasts. It could be a while before this stage is complete. After that though it's just a matter of publishing and distributing. Oh happy times.
