Palaces is fun and innovative new card-driven game where players compete to build the most spectacular palace towers using exquisite materials – jade, crystal, silver, and gold.
Palaces is a card game where you bid resources from your hand to acquire cards that add to your deck and build towers. The player with the tallest tower wins. You'll have to manage your hand and your towers while keeping an eye on what your opponents want.
Palaces was designed by me, Jeff Siadek, the designer of Lifeboat and Battlestations. I've been testing it for more than 3 years, and I'm proud to present it today.
Deck-building is a modern mechanic where players purchase cards in-game that get added to their personal deck, to be used later in the game.
Unlike other deck-builder games that focus on gaining generic victory points, Palaces lets players create epic-sized palace towers, and compete to have the most valuable palace. Each card in your deck represents a specific room in your palace, consisting of particular materials, and sometimes offering a special ability, such as drawing more cards or swapping materials.
Players will be bidding for various materials to build their palaces, and especially for the critical rooms that allow for majestic special abilities.
Building towers from small objects is in our nature, it's something we do as children. There is something beautiful and relaxing about slowly and surely building a great monument before our eyes, manifested by the power of our own mind, watching it soar above our competitors, a glory to ourselves.

What People Are Saying
I've been following the development of Palaces for some time now, and it's held my interest because it's more than just a simple deckbuilder. It's much more about resource management, watching what your opponents are doing, seizing opportunities to move more efficiently than others at the table, and of course building cool towers. I'm really looking forward to seeing what Mr. Siadek does with the final production version.
- Eric Summerer, The Dice Tower
Jeff has once again created a unique mechanism which sets this game apart from other deck building games. Palaces is easy to learn, has rich strategy and is downright fun!"
- Vincent Salzillo, President of Double Exposure, Inc.
Palaces definitely feels like a new way to use deck-building, both because of the tower-building aspect but also because of the way that cards are acquired and used.

Risks and challenges
There are risks with foreign production. We've done a dozen projects now and the art is nearly final so there should be no surprises other than the usual shipping problems, printer delays, etc.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
