Step right up, ladies and gentleman, for the culinary ride of your life! Behold the Magical Meatball Tour! Established chefs Ceasar Reyes and Venus Van Horn are teaming up to bring an amazing new mobile kitchen experience to Kansas City, MO and beyond. They plan to take meatballs to the masses with the “Magical Meatball Tour,” a traveling food event. As Ceasar puts it, "We're combining our cooking talents to give Kansas City the best balls they've ever put in their mouths. From traditional Sicilian to Spanish Vegan, we have balls for everyone!"
Patterned after an old time medicine show, the Magical Meatball tour is about more than just food. "Our goal is to provide Kansas City with an exciting mobile kitchen option," says Venus, "we want to supply great food and a fun atmosphere wherever we go. With the money we raise on Kickstarter we plan to convert a run-of-the-mill truck into a fantastic mobile kitchen, a traveling meatball show. The truck will be eye-catching on the outside and fully functional on the inside. We'll be able to deliver hot meals with a carnival vibe."
Why a mobile kitchen and why meatballs? A recent National Restaurant Association poll pointed to mobile food trucks as one of the hottest trends of 2011. And meatballs without pasta is a growing national movement. Ceasar and Venus believe the time is right for this project. "There are a few mobile kitchens in our area, but nothing like we envision."
Community is important to the two. "We've always been dedicated to supporting local farmers, so we'll use local produce and fresh ingredients where possible. Our bread will come directly from a local bakery." And this sense of community extends to the very creation of the Magical Meatball Tour. Venus notes, "We love the idea of community funding through Kickstarter. We want everyone who contributes to feel, not just that they helped, but that they're a part of the Meatball Tour."
So forget what you know about mobile kitchens. Ceasar proclaims, "A ball for everyone and everyone will have a ball, because our philosophy is good food doesn't have to be stuffy." Venus adds, "This will be a traveling event and we'll broadcast our dates and locations across social media outlets like Twitter, and Facebook. You can also follow our saga on at our blog and website. We believe Kansas City is ready to welcome the mobile kitchen trend and we want to bring it to them and have a great time while doing it!"
