A prototype is a preliminary model of something. Projects that offer physical products need to show backers documentation of a working prototype. This gallery features photos, videos, and other visual documentation that will give backers a sense of what’s been accomplished so far and what’s left to do. Though the development process can vary for each project, these are the stages we typically see:
Proof of Concept
Explorations that test ideas and functionality.
Demonstrates the functionality of the final product, but looks different.
Looks like the final product, but is not functional.
Appearance and function match the final product, but is made with different manufacturing methods.

Stop Monkeying around and get organized with Monkey HangUps!
FIVE REASONS TO BUY MONKEY HANGUPS
1. Give your children the chance to hang up their own clothes.
Monkey Hangup gives kids the ability to independently hang up or get down their clothes from the closet. So no more “Mom! Dad! I need you to hang this” or clothes just piled on the floor because you kids can’t reach. Your children can start taking responsibility for their closets earlier.
2. Use the different colors to organize.
With three different colors to choose from you can help your child organize his or her closet. Pick one color for shirts, another for pants, etc.
3. Transform your child’s closet from a boring closet to a colorful well-organized space. With these hangers you can even leave the closet open because it will look so good!
4. Great gifts for parents of young children. With these affordable prices you can give a fun, thoughtful gift without breaking the bank.
5. Support American made products. Our product is going to be made in Alliance, Ohio. We firmly believe in keeping jobs in America and your money would be supporting this instead of hangers made over seas.
Monkey Hangup is a product that will benefit many young parents. We started our design with hand sketches and then really brought it to life in SolidWorks. We worked with our friend Bruce (a WWII vet) and a very helpful molder in Alliance, OH to develop this product. We now have quotes for a 2 cavity mold and the piece price for each hanger that will be produced. Our molder also helped us with resin selection, shipping costs and logistics!
We've been working hard to eliminate waste and keep costs low in an effort to make this product in America (Ohio to be exact). A true story: When my daughter Angela was in 5th grade, she came home and very excitedly announced she found something made in our country! She was really excited...like she'd found a rare gem! Until then, I hadn't realized her generation had totally missed out on what used to be common: high quality US made products. I never forgot that day.
Finally, we took a "learn as we go" approach and taught ourselves some basic script writing and video editing skills. Youtube is a really great learning resource! We also spent time on Kickstarter using their learning resources and found it very helpful. And we spent time learning as much as we could about patents. We created all of our patent drawings and saved a ton in the process. And today, we're proud to say our Monkey Hangup is "Patent Pending"!
Risks and challenges
Our biggest concerns are:
We are asking for the funds needed to purchase a 2 cavity mold and to produce enough hangers to supply the orders needed to reach this goal.

We have a quote for the 2 cavity mold, but there is a long lead time involved. We are working with a local molder in Alliance, OH who will make and ship the hangers once the project is funded. Once the project reaches our goal, the mold will be ordered even if the project still has time remaining. By doing this, we hope to ship hangers ahead of schedule!
