Ghoul: Born to Kill is a horror comic recounting tales from Ghoul's homeland, the very real and spooky country of Creepsylvania. Tales of horror and thrash metal await the adventurous traveler. In the tiny European country of Creepyslvania, the streets and alleys are plagued by all sorts of magic, murder, and mutant mayhem. None is so vile as the fearsome foursome living in the graveyard known as Ghoul. They are the gateway into Creepsylvania and all the drama in this anthology.

1. MEET OUR $3000 GOAL IN ONE DAY
Well, we certainly didn't consider that we'd meet our goal the first day! As a thank you to our backers, we're adding Ross Sewage's Lil Ghoul comic strips to the comic book download! Previously posted randomly on Twitter and Instragram, they'll be collected together here for the first time! Literally tens of people found them funny!
2. DOUBLE OUR GOAL TO $6000
If we can double goal... wait... what's that? We doubled our goal? We did it in less than 24 hours? FLYING JESUS ON A POGO STICK! That's nuts! Well then, only available as a reward for our amazing backers, each and every physical comic book reward will come with a PRINTED backing board featuring a map of Ghoul's infamous home, the Monture Noire Cemetery Catacombs of Creepsylvania. These will be screen printed on archival card stock, perfect as a backing board for your comic, a dungeon map for your next role-playing adventure, or as an art piece all on its own!
3. TRIPLE OUR GOAL TO $9000
Backers have taken our campaign all the way up to $9000, so we're gonna ADD PAGES to the comic book! Yup, this 24 page wild comic is now a 28 page laugh fest as we collect and print Ross Sewage's Lil Ghoul comic strips for the very first time! Previously only seen on the Interwebs, you'll be able to enjoy these funny pages on the toilet WITHOUT a wifi connection!
4. QUADRUPLE OUR GOAL TO $12,000
I mean, really, c'mon. I can't believe we even got this far. But hey, this whole campaign has been surprise after surprise. So, we got something so ridiculous planned, it can only have come from the 1990s... we're going to ADD FOIL to the cover of this magnificent book! That's right, it's a completely useless aesthetic that doesn't improve the content all! SHINY THINGS! LOOK AT THE SHINY THINGS!
5. QUINTUPLE OUR GOAL TO $15,000
Oh yeah, this is gonna be a good one... if we get there...
Ghoul: Born to Kill is written and illustrated by Doktor Ross Sewage, a long-time collaborator of Ghoul. He's done layouts for their records and designed and co-illustrated the board game included in their fifth LP, Dungeon Bastards. He's helped create 3-D stage props for Ghoul and roadied for the band. Beyond Ghoul, Sewage has designed and illustrated covers for a myriad of albums in addition to illustrating a wide array of official gig posters. Sewage is also an accomplished performer in his own right, fulfilling bass and vocal duties in metal bands such as Exhumed, Impaled, and more. He also kinda sorta looks like the Ghoul bassist, but we're pretty sure there's no relation. More of his art and his D.I.Y. music blog can be seen at his own website, doktorsewage.com.
Ghoul has been a band since the year 2000, releasing five full length records as well as numerous EPs. They've toured North America and Europe with the likes of GWAR, Skeleton Witch, Every Time I Die, The Black Dahlia Murder, Carcass, Crowbar, Cannabis Corpse, and many more. They continue the slaughter to this day, with their music (including the songs in this video) available for download at their Bandcamp page, as well as physical copies (and tee shirts, hats, patches, etc.) available on their IndieMerch page.
And a special shout out to Tankcrimes Records, the label with whom Ghoul works with to release their splatterthrash to the masses. You can check out more Ghoul releases and all the other kick-ass bands on Tankcrimes at their website, tankcrimes.com.
Yeah, some people see Kickstarter as begging. I don't. Kickstarter has become the fourth largest "publisher" for comics, only there's no publisher, just real fans. The reason for this growth is obvious; these are D.I.Y projects with no gatekeepers except the fans themselves! Ghoul has never bowed before masters before and have no plans to do so now. They create what they like and bring it directly to the people. Kickstarter is the ultimate platform for a project like this, where everyone, fans and creators, can get rewarded for their hard work.
The money for this project will most likely all go towards printing and shipping to backers. Anything left over will hopefully be used to recompense the writer and illustrator for some of his time creating the comic with a percentage of the final product going to the band Ghoul to distribute and sell at their shows.
Risks and challenges
The greatest challenge is over; the comic book is fully illustrated and ready to go to print. The risk is that the world isn't ready for the horror of Ghoul on the printed page. Help us prove the world is ready. This is my first Kickstarter campaign, but I'm going in prepared. I've got all the plans in place for speedy fulfillment, though it's daunting knowing I'll be doing it all by myself. My greatest fear? Failure! But if enough Ghoulunatics pledge, we can surmount any challenge and continue presenting these real-life tales of splatterthrash and cannibal mayhem!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
