A prototype is a preliminary model of something. Projects that offer physical products need to show backers documentation of a working prototype. This gallery features photos, videos, and other visual documentation that will give backers a sense of what’s been accomplished so far and what’s left to do. Though the development process can vary for each project, these are the stages we typically see:
Proof of Concept
Explorations that test ideas and functionality.
Demonstrates the functionality of the final product, but looks different.
Looks like the final product, but is not functional.
Appearance and function match the final product, but is made with different manufacturing methods.
Appearance, function, and manufacturing methods match the final product.
This past Fourth of July week my Solar Warrior friend, Taylor Carter, and I celebrated Energy Independence Day by participating in a hands-on workshop about off-grid solar electric systems. Here we learned how to assemble and build 12V Portable Light-in-Bucket systems, a 24V Dolly system and two 48V Mobile Solar Warrior Power Stations (MSWPS). The MSWPS can be transported to remote locations, providing energy for communities to build, communicate, charge mobile devices, provide lighting, and allow medications to be refrigerated anywhere.
With the Help of Solar Warriors Everywhere;~We will Build a 48V Mobile Solar Warrior Power Station!
This trailer will be created for and deployed by Trees, Water & People in Partnership with Red Cloud Renewable Energy Center on Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota. The MSWPS will be used intensively at the upcoming Winter NODAPL Water Protector Camps. It will be deployed for community gatherings and emergency response while becoming a hands-on mobile classroom.
Parts Needed: Estimated Costs
~Batteries (8 Fullriver DC400-6 6 Volt 400 amp hour 1100 lbs): $3000
~Outback Flexpower One Prewired system with VFXR3648A 3500 watt AC/DC Inverter & 60 Amp Charge Solar Controller Unit: $3850
~48V Solar Panels: $1800
~Hardware (PV Racking and Roof Materials): $500
~Single Axel 5' x 8' Trailer: $1000
~We will plan our purchasing & logistics according to budget. We have a list of solar equipment that we plan to purchase depending on how much is raised. We can accomplish this project with the low-end estimate of $7,500 raised which included paying out Kickstarter and funding the Rewards. We Hope & Anticipate global support that we will be able to raise much more.
*100% of funds raised will be used to facilitate the building and delivery of the 48V MSWPS to Red Cloud Renewable Energy Center in Pine Ridge, SD; which will support Water Protector Camps in 2017-2018.
Red Cloud Renewable Energy Center has a goal of 10 trailers. During the 4th of July weekend, We completed trailers #3 & #4. This Kickstarter Water Protector Project will be trailer #5.
~All Rewards have already been Created by the Project Team. Rewards will begin shipping as soon as the MSWPS Project funds have been Released! Progress of the trailer build will be updated as completed with follow-up when finished.
$25,000 STRETCH GOAL: A STARSHIP IN EVERY GARAGE
AS THIS PROJECT BECOMES SUCCESSFULLY FUNDED; WE HAVE A STRETCH GOAL. PROJECT 33 WOULD LIKE TO BUILD ITS OWN 48V SOLAR TRAILER. AFTER THE SOLAR WARRIOR TRAILER HAS BEEN FINANCED, WE WOULD LIKE TO INITIATE ANOTHER MURRINE PULL!
THE SECOND LIMITED PULL WILL FULLY FINANCE A PROJECT 33 MOBILE SOLAR STATION. ***THIS WILL ONLY OCCUR AFTER THE WATER PROTECTOR TRAILER IS COMPLETE.

Risks and challenges
Risks & Challenges:
1. Acquiring Needed Parts
2. Assembling the Trailer Correctly
3. Delivering the Trailer to Pine Ridge Reservation, South Dakota
4. Delivering Backer Rewards
~AQUIRING NEEDED PARTS
The team of Dedicated Solar teachers who have created the Solar Class and taught the demonstration have committed to provide the best possible solar equipment and the lowest costs. We expect to raise more than the $7,500 goal so that we can fully build the MSWPS with the most complete set of high end parts. We are aware we may only reach the low stretch of the goal and have to go with a smaller battery bank or less panels to begin with. We are confident our large back of financial donor support in this matter through Trees, Water & People and Solar Industries networks will ensure a fully funded MSWPS.
~ASSEMBLING TRAILER CORRECTLY
After attending the 48V Solar Class, Taylor and I have acquired the necessary knowledge to build the MSWPS. Our team of Dedicated Solar teachers from the Solar Energy International School have committed to provide the best possible Solar Support. All work will be professionally checked and verified before the MSWPS is deployed for use in the field. We will provide picture and hopefully video updates of progress of the build as we accomplish and complete the Solar Warrior Project.
~DELIVERING THE TRAILER
After multiple successful trips to Pine Ridge, SD, I have 100% faith that delivering the MSWPS will be an exciting and safe journey. I have driven my own personal tiny home from Georgia around the country to Pine Ridge and lived on site for a month in 2016. My vehicle is 4 wheel drive and rated to deliver a trailer this size and larger. We hope to complete this project before the end of November 2017 AND deliver the trailer with Trees, Water & People to Pine Ridge, SD.
~DELIVERING BACKER REWARDS
Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
Project 33 Collector's Murrine rewards have already been made! This is Incredibly Exciting and Awesome, because there will be no wait or lag time once the project is successfully funded for rewards to begin shipping! This is an extremely limited glass pull made specially for the Water Protectors!
