About this project
3,800 miles. 9 months. 8 countries. 3 men. $0 for travel expenses. A documentary about Generosity, Sincerity, and Discovery.
We want to unearth the essential importance of love and relationships through the medium of film. With the help of your donations, we hope to create a film and put it on Netflix, iTunes, and to enter it in film festivals. We want to highlight the fact that our culture in this day and age overvalues money and overlooks that which is truly invaluable: connections and relationships with all peoples of the world.
Something More will follow the travels of Sid Beck, Zachary Meyers, and Matt Thomas as they travel from Portugal to Israel over the course of nine months. They will be acting as Director/Cinematographer, Film Composer, and Studio Advisor respectively for the entire duration of the film's pre and post-production process. They will travel with no production team outside of themselves. They are their own camera crew, and they will be using no travel expenses aside from what they alone can provide for themselves. They'll do this by working on organic farms, helping out in orphanages, and meeting people who are friendly enough and willing to house and feed them. They will rely on the compassion of others for sustenance and shelter. In so doing, they hope to illustrate how cultural barriers can be overcome with the use of love. They will document the people that they meet, the interactions they have with those people, and the struggles that they face as they push towards their goal of reaching Israel.
The documentary will be shot from September 30th of 2014 through June of 2015. None of the official documentary has been filmed yet, and will be filmed upon the team's departure for Europe.
17k - Camera Equipment, 6k - Plane Tickets, 2k - Hard Drives, 11k - Editing Software/Hardware, 11k - Post-Production Living Expenses, 3k - Kickstarter Incentives, 10k - Kickstarter's Share and Taxes.
This total of 60k contributes significantly to the cost of professional film equipment/audio equipment for us to use in the production of the film and in the post-production process of the film. Our budget doesn't contribute to our travels outside of plane tickets. The price tag may seem steep, however our goal is to make a feature film that is on par with the films of today, not to pay for our travels. We have budgeted some funds to get ourselves to Europe so that we can begin the filming of the documentary, but we have budgeted the most of our funds for the film to be created in a professional manner. This is a common misconception about our project. Our team has done the most that we possibly can to make this budget as low as possible without undermining our hope to create a feature film.
To see more detail about some of the budget, check out the FAQ at the bottom of this page. Feel free to send us messages and ask questions about other aspects of the budget or film as well, we want to keep this as open and honest as possible.

Risks and challenges
Finding food. Also, theft, language barriers, BIG bugs, bites, no haircuts or shaving, hypothermia, heatstroke, political unrest, armies, poisonous plants/bugs/liquids, finding water, blisters, bruises, cuts, broken bones, getting lost, lack of long-distance communication.
We know that this entire project is ambitious. Aside from the difficulties we face during our travels, we'll face many difficulties after our travels have finished as we begin editing the final project. Though it is ambitious, we feel as though the multitude of abilities our team possesses will be able to help us push through and see this film completed in a timely and professional manner.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
