In Time for Christmas
Marital Bliss is currently on track for Christmas delivery to our U.S. backers. Things can always change, but many of you want to give the game as a gift, and now that we are fully funded we have a clear path to make that happen.
The Word on the Street:
"This card game for couples is seriously cool, I'm a fan."–Jane McGonnigal
"Marital Bliss has got game. For sure."–GotGameTesters.com
“It's a lot of fun. We like trying to guess when the other is doing their mission.”–Lauren, Ohio.
“This game is great. We have already felt closer as a result.”–Ray, Florida.
"We both had to work hard to disguise our missions so they would not be either guessable or disingenuous.”–Jackie, Nebraska
"Luke, I am your father." - Darth Vader
About the Game:
Traditionally, if you want to play a game for couples you are stuck with two options: you either have to play an uncomfortable and embarrassing "relationship-building" game, or an over-the-top sex game that makes 50 Shades of Grey seem like a children's book.
Marital Bliss is different. It is a card game for couples who... are you ready for this?... just want to play a fun game together. Whoa! What a concept!
Marital Bliss is also a unique and memorable gift for weddings, anniversaries, birthdays, and holidays.
If you think Marital Bliss will add some fun to your relationship, we want you to play it! For that reason we have a basic and free print-and-play version of the game for everyone to download. You can find it on our website maritalblissgame.com. But if you want the great artwork, and the professional print quality, read on!
What Makes it Great?
- The Secret Missions - "Was that your mission?"
- The Strategy - Better marriages through subterfuge™
- The Timeframe - You play for days, not hours.
- The Reveal - Who wins the reward?
- Winner of a Nobel Peace Prize - *Not actually the winner of a Nobel Peace Prize.
What's In the Box?
- 75 Mission Cards, each with a super-challenging brownie point.
- 37 unique Reward Cards
- 7 Strategy Cards
- Printing will be sourced right here in the USA. Take that, China!
- Rules and Instructions
- Not feeling competitive? The game also contains an alternative cooperative rule set.
When you adopt-a-card at the $79 level, in addition to sending you three copies of the game, we will also place your name, website, or business on a card from the game. Sponsorships will be placed on cards randomly. There is a 20 to 25 character limit to the text on the cards. And yes, content will be subject to approval for appropriateness. Let us know if you have any questions.
$7,000 - The Marital Bliss illustrator has provided us with some unbelievable artwork for the game. We are so pleased with his work that we want to share it with you in a unique way. Once we hit $7,000, we will release one-of-a-kind Marital Bliss electronic posters and wallpapers featuring all of David's illustrations, many of which haven't been publicly released yet!
$10,00 - Your support has been so overwhelming that we really need to do something personal for each of you. Once we hit $10,000, we will print a small run of custom thank you cards (Marital Bliss themed, of course) and we will take the time to write handwritten thank you notes to each of you. That's right, hand-written thank you cards. In a digital age, we are kickin' it analog-style.
Risks and challenges
As with any project, there are risks involved with the production and manufacturing of our game. We consider the largest risk to be timing of the final product. Whatever happens, we guarantee that we will be completely honest and open with each of you every step of the way.
Risk #1 - Art changes
All the artwork shown above is conceptual. We may have to make slight modifications to the design as we get closer to the final product.
Risk #2 – A baby.
There’s going to be a new little Fink before the end of the year. Our wonderful little poop-machine will consume more energy than the Energizer bunny. That’s why our plan is to finish all the hard production work and place the game order in October.
Risk #3 – Production Issues & Christmas Rush
This is our first game, but Nick has a multitude of printing jobs under his belt from his day job. We are also working with an American printer so there will not be any translation issues to worry about, and shipping will be way faster. It’s still possible that we’ll run into production delays with the pending Christmas rush, but we’ll do everything in our power mitigate those risks. Best-case scenario, we’ll have all copies shipped before Christmas. Worst case scenario... whomever you're giving it to will have to wait a couple weeks after Christmas for their gift.
Risk #4 – Zombie Apocalypse
This is classified as a “low probability, high impact” risk. Nicole didn't think it needed to be included. Fortunately for you, Nicole didn't write this section. In the event of an undead uprising, we will hole-up in a bunker and hand-print each and every single copy of the game. Copies will then be personally delivered, just like Kevin Costner did in that movie The Postman. Hopefully our efforts will be a catalyst for hope and inspire the survivors living in post-apocalyptic America.
