About this project
(P.S. "Osama's Jihad" is not what you think it is!)
Pita Bread American is a new initiative, which aims to tell the Arab American and Muslim American narratives. Osama's Jihad is the first story under this initiative. I hope to expand on this initiative and include the works of others in the future.
Osama’s Jihad is a story of unconditional love; it is about the ties that bind a family together.
Each and every reader will find something to relate to in the novel.
There is only about a dozen Arab American writers who focused on the Arab narrative over the past couple of decades; and most of them didn't reach the mainstream American audience. Despite the growing interest in the Arab rhetoric, the average American can only learn about the Arab World from non-Arab sources.
We, Arab Americans, need to own our narrative. With the increased demand, we can blend other aspects of the culture into the mainstream market other than belly dancing, hookah, and camels. And Crowdfunding is the perfect proof of such demand. It gives power to the people, with no middleman.
This is one of the main reasons I am self-publishing this novel. I want to introduce the reader to the world of an Arab American, with all its joys, fears and struggles; under the umbrella of a wider and more relatable theme, unconditional love.
Where is the Money Going?
Your backing helps do two things: it helps push the book into the final stages of publishing, and it helps get the book into the hands of the right readers.
More specifically, your backing helps with full editing, printing, marketing and shipping. Your support is crucial to making this novel a success.
Let's get this book on some shelves!!
It is my hope this novel will provide a nudge to those who need it, be it a parent, a sibling, or a friend to open their hearts and minds to the beauty of unconditional love.
Risks and challenges
The risks are minimal.
The story is written-- It needs to go through editing and printing before you can have it in the palms of your hands.
