The DVBIA works at the intersection of property owners, city departments, citizens and other key stakeholders to ensure key project milestones can be met.

Through a community engagement project, Re-Imagine Downtown Vancouver, the DVBIA discovered that Vancouverites wanted more safe and vibrant public spaces. In particular, there was real interest in revitalizing alleyways. The DVBIA ran with the idea and partnered with HCMA Architecture + Design to make it happen.

Joining forces with HCMA has allowed the DVBIA to expand their skillset, leveraging HCMA’s enthusiasm, creative vision and design prowess to propel projects like this forward.

Ackery’s Alley is the second alley that More Awesome Now has revitalized. The first was Alley-Oop, a pink and yellow alleyway fitted with basketball hoops in the heart of downtown Vancouver.

The DVBIA is passionate about creating more public spaces that provide opportunity for connection and make better use of underutilized spaces downtown.
