About this project
What is Rushi?
Rushi is a fast paced board game for 2 players. The object is to get all your cards to your opponent's side. Use strategies like blocking and trapping to beat your opponent. Every game is different, and you'll want to play over and over again to try new ways of outsmarting your opponent.
NOTE: The Rushi Cards will be upgraded to 2mm card stock in the final retail version that we will deliver to our backers!
A 10 Minute Game for Everyone
Rushi is is simple enough for a 5 year old to understand but has enough strategy for much more complex game play. We built Rushi in the spirit of classic board games like Checkers or Chess, but we wanted the game experience to be unique and fast paced. We have played hundreds of games and are still learning new strategies each time we play.
Each player starts with:
- 3 Single Arrow Cards
- 2 Side Arrow Cards
- 2 Corner Arrow Cards
Objective: The objective of the game is to be the first player to place all 6 of their cards into their opponent’s Home Squares (the first and last rows on the board, marked with a dot).
Setup: Each player places the following cards on their Home Squares in the following order, from left to right: 1 Single Arrow Card (facing forward), 1 Corner Arrow Card, 2 Side Arrow Cards, 1 Corner Arrow Card, 1 Single Arrow Card (facing forward). Players keep the remaining Single Arrow Card in their hand.
Gameplay: Players take turns placing the card in their hand on the board. Players can only place their card on a square that one of their other cards is pointing to (see Diagram). Players cannot place their card on top of another card. When a player places their card on a square, they must pick up the card that was pointing to that square to play on their next turn.
If two cards were pointing to that square, players may pick up either card, but not both.
Swap Rule: Instead of placing their card on an open square, players may swap the card in their hand with any one of their cards on the board, as long as that card is not on a Home Square. This ends the player’s turn.
- The person with the Blue cards goes first.
- After the initial setup, Single Arrow Cards can be placed on the board pointing in any direction.
- You cannot swap a card that is on a Home Square.
- If you can’t make a legal move, you lose your turn.
- Once you place a card on one of your opponent’s Home Squares, that card is locked in place and cannot be used for the rest of the game.
What does it comes with?
The game will show up at your doorstep in pristine retail packaging. The game will include a foldable board and 14 high quality professionally printed Rushi cards.
How far along are you?
We spent countless hours slaving over every aspect from game play to card and board design and we think we finally got it right. We recently completed a short run with a local board game manufacturer and have a complete game ready for production. We have also hand picked our manufacturing partner to make the version of Rushi that will arrive at your doorstep. We have worked with these guys before and they do top quality work.
Risks and challenges
We have taken all necessary steps to make sure that you receive a professional quality board game at your doorstep by the holidays. The game-play has been meticulously tested and the design work was carefully thought through.
We partnered with and vetted a reliable board manufacturer that we have worked with on previous project and are confident that they can deliver a high quality product.
Finally, we selected a local fulfillment service to make sure that your orders get to you in a quick and efficient manner. If for some reason things go awry, we promise to frequently post updates to keep you in the loop.
Thanks in advance for believing in us and supporting Rushi!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
