Thank you, thank you, thank you all for your generosity and support. You have made this old baker very happy. Your support will give me enough revenue to cover rent, insurance, supplies, and marketing expenses for the next six months. Here's the breakdown:
- $450/month for rent
- $200/month supplies and ingredients
- $100/month marketing and misc.
- $50/month for insurance
I would like to stretch my goal to $6000. This will give me about nine months expense coverage. To reach this goal I have added two new rewards.
Oreo Stuffed Cookie Add-on
I have added some new rewards that include a half dozen Oreo Stuffed Cookie for $20 more. If you would like to add that to your pledge reward just add $20 to your pledge and message me. If you would like a full dozen just add $40 and message me.
Cookie Hangout via Google
Spend an hour with Antoine on Google Hangout and learn how to make cookies from an experienced baker. I will teach you how to cream, mix, and manage baking time. You can take this time to ask me any questions you have about cookie baking. There will be workshops in October, November, and December. Just in time for the holidays!
I started making cookies about two years ago. I bought my wife a standing mixer because she also loves to bake, but I found myself taking it over on my mission to create the best Chocolate Chip cookie. I baked hundreds of cookies on this quest. In an effort to maintain my average figure and get feedback from friends I gave my cookies out and waited by the phone. They were extremely supportive and encouraged me start my own business.
The success of my shop has largely been attributed to listening to suggestions from my loyal customers. I have learned that though I really love cookies there are some out of the box ideas that I would never have come up with. For example my Oatmeal White Chocolate cookie (nicknamed "The Irvin") was a suggestion from a customer and I was skeptical. But when I added it to our menu it was a huge hit.
I am raising funds to rent a commercial kitchen and deliver cookies throughout the Bay Area. A commercial kitchen will enable me to bake more cookies and give me time to create new ones. The funds generated from this start up will go to kitchen rental fees, product liability insurance, building a website, marketing expenses, and buying the freshest local ingredients to make the best cookies in the Bay Area. The folks at Studio Cake in Menlo Park have graciously invited me to use their kitchen. They are wonderful supporters of local baking entrepreneurs and have a wealth of experience in the baking industry.
My inspiration for baking comes from my customers. It's an amazing feeling to be able to make something that people love, and making something that people love will always be at the core of my business.
Risks and challenges
The risks and challenges of fulfilling this project is that we may become too busy or we may not have enough business. But rest assured we have always fulfilled our orders in a timely manner. You can see that from our etsy stats. If there are any set backs we plan on consulting other local business owners who have been extremely helpful and supportive of our shop, from giving advice to being regular cookie munchers. If our business is too slow we have everything in line to keep our business at a home kitchen. We have all the certifications needed to function as a home kitchen and we have priced our rewards fairly so that we will have the necessary funds to reward each backer.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
