California History at Night Project
For those who love California History, come join me as I explore the beauty and history of California lit up at night.
I am planning on taking my crew to numerous California history sites and bringing these locations to life by photographing them at night. I would love your support.
I had a wonderful opportunity to go to Coloma and do a night shoot of the Mormon cabin and Sutter's Mill, where gold was first discovered and the California Gold Rush began.
We had so much fun doing the shoot and because of my love of California history I decided to do a series of California State Historical sites. I love telling a story, using models to portray how these people lived and worked. The sights we shoot will include California missions, historical landmarks, forts, etc. I am hoping to get enough money to do AT LEAST 15 sites, hopefully more.
I love photography at night. This painting with light technique takes about 2-4 hours to shoot for one photo, then hours of editing. I think the rewards are worth it. Many people ask if it is a painting or a photograph and ask how it is done.
This project would be much easier and more comprehensive to do if I had funds for the following:
Equipment: My equipment needs some upgrades.
Travel expenses: The more money I make the farther and more traveling my crew and I can do.
Costumes and set equipment: I try and borrow what I can but sometimes need to rent or build something.
Risks and challenges
Time and logistics are the biggest challenges. It takes a lot of time a prep just for one photo. Luckiy I enjoy all of this; finding models, working with contact people for the site, the hours of editing, etc.
Let's journey back in time as we explore California and it's past! Thank you for all your help!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
