About this project
This February, Route 66 will present the second show of our 2010-2011 Season. We are proud to announce the upcoming World Premiere of "A Twist of Water," written by Caitlin Montanye Parrish, co-created with and directed by Erica Weiss at the brand new Theater Wit space in Chicago. But we need your support to make it possible. An equity production with high production values can be expensive to produce - and Route 66 makes sure that all the artists who dedicate their time and talent to these productions, the actors and designers, are compensated for their work. Your support goes directly to the artists and the show.
"A Twist of Water" is a love letter to Chicago, a strikingly funny and profoundly touching story of fathers and daughters and of what it means to be a family. History teacher Noah (Stef Tovar) is raising his adopted African-American teenaged daughter alone in the wake of his husband Richard's recent death. When his daughter, Jira (Falashay Pearson), decides to seek out her birth mother, their already grief-stricken and strained relationship is pressed to the breaking point. As Noah struggles to rebuild his family, a burgeoning new romance with a younger man serves to complicate matters, but may also be a saving grace.
Thank you for your support! We'll see you at the theatre this winter!
