Ideally, I'd just say something like, "Hey, guys, I'm making stuff. So, stand back, buckle your seat-belts, and prepare to get your gamer minds blown!"
But that's not the way human beings work. People like to see details, deadlines, images, flavor text dripping with bacon juice, and... what else do people like to see in these Kickstarters? A name brand or, at least, a big name behind it all. Well, most people don't know who I am, but I've been doing this shit for awhile. Most of those who do know me think my work is pretty awesome. And this trilogy will be more of the same - awesome!
So, what is this project? Just PDFs containing scenario information for GMs to run a one-shot game. There's an eldritch fantasy, Lovecraftian horror, and raunchy sci-fi to choose from. Best part? You don't have to choose. You get all three with your $3 pledge. Three dollars?!? Venger, are you out of your damn mind? Probably. So, take advantage of my being not-quite-right in the head.
Why? Well, I was able to complete the Universal Exploits Kickstarter early and I have a little time left before my wife gives birth to twins in November - at which point, I'll have no time to write, roleplay, or do much of anything besides taking care of babies. Now's the time to get this stuff out there!
I thought you said the last KS was going to be the last for awhile? Well, short PDFs are different. I'm avoiding the triple-headed hassles of publishing actual books, having them sent to me, and mailing them out. Plus, half of everything is already written. I expect to have the writing portion of this project completed in a fortnight. Also, I already have most of the artwork finished and sitting on my computer - just waiting to be used!
Below is a synopsis of each scenario. I understand if one or two are your preference, but not all. You're getting all three regardless. They're a package deal.
Slaves of Tsathoggua
This is a 4 - 5 page adventure with a dark science-fantasy vibe. There's a village located too near a cave to be unaffected by its evil influence. Dear God, what's in that cave?!? I know what you're thinking, but it's not Tsathoggua. This is like medieval fantasy by way of The Twilight Zone.
It's made for the Crimson Dragon Slayer RPG, but would be suitable for any fantasy rule-set with a minimum of conversion.
You can check out the basic version of Crimson Dragon Slayer (edition 1.11) Here:
There's also the over-the-top gonzo 80's pop-culture "advanced" Crimson Dragon Slayer here:
A Green Jewel They Must Possess
This is a 4 - 5 page adventure of investigative horror set in "modern day," specifically the 1970's. A glowing green sphere with spiritual powers has been discovered in Peru, but it's cursed because people keep dying. Obviously, it's worth a fortune.
It's made for The Outer Presence RPG, but will be usable with any sort of Lovecraftian RPG. You can check out the game here:
Slippery When Wet
This is a 4- 5 page adventure of sleazy space opera action in the 23rd century. After a large-scale assault, the PCs hitch a ride on an underwater vessel named the bearded clam. Their destination is the undersea citadel Aqua Vulva.
It's made for the Alpha Blue RPG, but will be usable with almost any sci-fi RPG of your choice. Ever wanted to play in a universe akin to Ice Pirates, Flash Gordon, Spacehunter: Adventures in the Forbidden Zone, Starchaser: The Legend of Orin, Space Balls, Heavy Metal, or some porn parody of Star Wars or Star Trek?
Yeah, this is off the beaten path. Check out Alpha Blue for yourself:
Keep in mind that 4 - 5 pages is the minimum. I can't promise they will be longer, but I've over-delivered on page count thus far.
What's Kort'thalis Publishing all about? It's about an old school vibe - random tables, risque content, strangeness, and a Hell raisin' (yes, actual Hell raisins!) freewheelin' attitude. Kort'thalis Publishing is where crunch goes to die, and where awesome is nine-tenths of the law!
Specifically, my RPGs are a neo-quasi O5R. They use the basics, like Hit Points and Armor Class, but attempted actions are decided upon d6 dice pools. Simple stuff that puts the focus on the immersive game world and the characters within it.
I make RPG stuff for adults to enjoy. I don't cater to a corporate image. I'm not afraid of offending someone out there on the internet. And if there was a color that defined my work, it would not be beige. I'm different. I'm bold. I'm an outsider.

p.s. The whole paying extra $ to have one's name included in the book thing hasn't had a 100% success rate. I've missed people for various reasons. So, these will be sponsored by a couple of awesome people who got missed on Universal Explots: Trentin C. Bergeron and Andrew Augustine DiNovo.
Hope this makes up for my screw up, guys!
$1,000 - Glynn will create a beautiful map for the underwater vessel known as the bearded clam.
Risks and challenges
I've been doing this awhile. I intend to have this all finished and out to you by Halloween. Even if the twins come early or I die unexpectedly next month, I'll get it done, sent out to Glynn Seal of MonkeyBlood Design and he'll make sure it's available to everyone.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
