About The Project
Hello and thanks you so much for checking out my project. My idea is a very simple one. As a graphic designer, I LOVE colour. But as you know if you care about it as much as I do, consistency across various print devices can be tough. Spot and full colour swatch books are available in the market place but are very expensive and fade over time. So I thought I’d build one for the design, print and wider community. I wanted to build a colour tool that I and others could use on any print device again and again. I wanted to accommodate every language and the european A4 and the US letter format making it usable by everyone.
The aim was to make it easy to use and understand, while educating and informing the user. Be it for a lecturer to share with a class, a small design agency or large publisher.
In total I will need to hand render 20736, yes that’s twenty thousand seven hundred and thirty six individually formatted squares. Each with clear reference markers stating the CMYK tint values from 0-100 percent. Each page will contain six 144 tint square panels which increase in yellow by 10 percent with an covering of 10 percent increments on black. The good news is that I have 1728 in the bag, so that just leaves 19008 to go. The book will look something like this.
Who is it for?
Everyone who cares about colour clarity and accuracy, designers, students, lecturers, printers and enthusiast large or small! Of course, unless your printing device is carefully profiled, your output won’t necessarily match a commercial printer’s results unless you give them the project files. But if you print in-house you will find them extremely helpful.
About The Funding
I have high expectations for this project and want to share it with as many people as I can. I have set only three funding levels £1 for the screensaver/background image, £5 for the "CMYK scalable training file" and £25 for the complete "Digital Tint Book". The funding will go towards the cost of proof printing each page on a high end device at a litho printers. So please share this and spread a little colour around the world and i'll see you one the other side.
Upon successful funding
I'll reach out to each backer and ask how they wish to receive the finished project, Dropbox is my preferred method as the final project will be around 40MB in size. But you can suggest Google Drive or a similar option if you wish.
A huge colourful thank you for reading this and for your support.
£500 plus STRETCH GOAL!
Wow, thank you everyone for your support, I have added a stretch goal. Get the first three reward levels for just £29.00, only five available!
Risks and challenges
It's a big challenge, BIG! I have 634 tints a day for 30 days to hit the balance of 19008 and the grand total of 20736. Accuracy is everything but i'm looking forward to the process and indulging my LOVE of colour. I will be keeping my backers informed of my progress at every stage along with the quantity of coffee I consume.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
