About this project
For Fear The Hearts Of Men Are Failing. We are a unique folk band from Oakland California. We blend a variety of traditional music style and some modern influences on all acoustic instruments. We've made an album all by ourselves and we are so, so, so proud of it. It is called The Wonderful Clatter.
We are turning to you, the kick starters of the world, to help fund the production and promotion of our album. We really feel this album is special and despite being played on old world instruments, it sounds NEW. We want everyone to hear it. Your purchase of the album or of some of the artwork associated with the band, you will enable us print the CDs, send them to every college radio station we can, every music blog and do what we can to create a buzz for the bay area untraditional folk scene.
We have several guests on this album. Skyler Fell from Thee Hobo Gobbelins plays accordion and sings, Mike from Sour Mash Hug Band plays the fiddle, Meg Ruth King sings a song, my six year old nephew wrote a song and one song has lyrics that were found on an abandoned note pad at a punk show ten years ago. We hope that album not only showcases our own ability, but for the whole bay area's "dirty folk" scene.
On this album there is mandolin, mandola, harmonium, melodica, stand up bass, harmonica, three kinds of guitars, clawhammer banjo, accordion, violin. We are fans of acoustic music and rare, weird instruments. As well, we take in eastern European, Balkan and gypsy melodies and make them our own. We have been described as folk-punk, old timey, new timey, bluegrass, indie folk, actual punk and actual folk music. Though all those titles all work well enough, no other band sounds quite like us.
