Ruined Eye is a film adaptation of Jonathan Coulton's song "Creepy Doll".
When faced with impending fatherhood, struggling musician Ian runs away from home to a town in the woods at the top of a hill to a house where no one lives. Ian finds the house isn’t empty, as an abandoned doll becomes his new concern that pulls him deeper and deeper into madness.
Ruined Eye is a thesis film for my Bachelor of Fine Arts degree at Emerson College, and will be put into production in early 2016. This is both a dream project and a college project, so I am pulling out all the stops to create the best film that I can make. I have been allotted $500 from Emerson college for the production of this film, but that is only a small portion of the funding needed to bring this project to life.
The funding of this project will directly go towards the production costs of the film, including renting a secluded cabin in the woods, feeding a crew of people for the duration of production, renting film equipment not provided by the college, transporting said equipment and crew to the filming location, paying non-student actors, distributing Kickstarter prizes, and potential licensing of the works of Jonathan Coulton.
Risks and challenges
The difficulty of filming in Rural New England in the winter is notable, but not impossible to overcome. The filming of this project will take no more than two full weeks, and can be completed any time before May 2016 if the winter is too harsh for any filming. The production team assembled for this film is made of the best people I know for the job, and have no doubt in my mind that they will be able to deliver an amazing final project, as they have done with countless other Kickstarter films, BFA projects, and Indiegogo campaigns.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
