Got my copies today! Beautiful...Thank you....but you forgot to list me as a Kickstarter backer...disappointed there...
Got my copy yesterday - on the same day another Kickstarter (ordered two months away) arrived. Sweet! Now, to work on getting it played…
I'm glad, Michael, we hope you enjoy it!
Hi Brian, I received my copy of the game today. Thank you!
Kevin Melahn, email firstname.lastname@example.org with your new address.
Hopefully, the game hasn't already been shipped.
I've requested info on how to make a change of address, but heard nothing back. Please advise on how to provide a change of address, please.
According to Brian Youse (posted on ConSimWorld) - all the components are in house and the first games have been built and shipped.
I'm more disappointed than frustrated. I expected a delay - that has become part of the Kickstarter "charm". I was hoping to have this game for a small convention I attend in early November - don't see that happening now. If I don't receive this before the third week of December, then I'll start getting irritated as Christmas is likely my best chance of playing this game in a timely manner.
I'm (perhaps only moderately) surprised to see any frustration in this thread. Statistically, most (about 80%, if I recall correctly) Kickstarters that fund miss their target date, so I can't see getting upset about that. Given that this is backed by MMP, I'm not overly concerned that it won't happen at all.
Compared to the previous pre-Kickstarter P500-like preorder process, this is moving relatively quickly, but 1) with more updates, and 2) presumably with less chance of suddenly dropping off of the production list.
Besides, it will be par for the course for me that any amount of time it takes to get the game to me will be dwarfed by the time it takes for me to get it to the table. :-P
I'd say November looks like a good guess. Rules and player's aids are going to the printer next week.
Soooo.... Do we have any idea as to when it's coming? Christmas? I would love it by Christmas.
Also, Brian, I understand that you probably have a lot more to do other than just do updates for this Kickstarter, more regular updates would be appreciated. I'm sure we would appreciate it, and it would lead to less upset people... Thanks!
Eric - I understand your frustration as well, trust me. Unfortunately we've had to work on some components that were not as far along as we were led to believe when this Kickstarter was started, otherwise I would have waited even longer to kick it off.
However, those issues are mostly worked through, I won't bore you with details as they really are not for public consumption, they are in the past and game production is well under way.
The components of the game themselves (not just "a dumb magnet" or the tee shirts) have started to arrive, i'll have some pictures to post tonight (9/20/13) along with a complete update.
I will post a complete update tonight when i'm home from work with some good news.
How about another apology and a belated update? In august, you were beating your chest over a dumb magnet - how about the game that we're all waiting for?
so, any idea of when backers can expect to receive their games...July 2013 has come and gone along with a couple more months?
I can understand Tom's comments and frustration. It seems that the original explanation of when game would be produced was misleading, particularly, "We feel there is no risk of delivery delays because the components of this game are ready to go to the printer. In fact, we'll begin the printing/final-proofing process the moment the goal is reached, not waiting for the end of the Kickstarter period". Instead it appears from the updates (as of 17 Aug) that components are still not yet finalized.
I assume that "the help of KS" meant that there was an expectation that the Kickstarter program would impart discipline and accountability in getting the product produced as promised (i.e., July).
Tom, sorry you feel that way, i'm not sure what "the help of KS" is other than paying the printer on time.
A current update was posted several days ago, did everyone (backers?) get an email notification of this?
Left comment on BGG as well but it doesn't surprise me that MMP is incapable of publishing a game on time apparently even with the help of KS.
Still breathing here in the border state of Missouri.
Wow. Dead forum here. What is going on?
When can we see the final rule book?
It's kind of been a long time since the last update... Any updates?
Brian, an update is way overdue.
I'm also curious as to whether this is going to ship in July as anticipated. An update would be very much appreciated.
Do we think Lincoln's War will make it to WBC this year?
Watched Ken Burns Civil War and played A House Divided recently, and I am way too excited to get this game!
Brain, how about an update?
Out of curiosity, is this project still on pace to ship in July?
This Week in History:
Thanks everyone for backing our first Kickstarter campaign! I'll use this comment area to keep everyone up to date on where we are in production.
Over the next day or so we'll figure out how to use the "surveys" that Kickstarter provides to get the information we'll need from you - which car magnet, which shirt, what size shirt, and for the larger pledges what information we'll need for the special cards and counters.
Meanwhile, we're finishing up the box proofing and will get that off to the printers. The box, cards, and counters take the longest (with standard time quotes being "four to six weeks" from when they are submitted to the printer, the rulebooks, maps, and any player aid cards all take about 8 to 10 days from their submission date.
So there it is. Thanks again for pledging, keep an eye out for updates, and lets get this game on the table!
congrats!!.. can't wait!
Reached the first stretch reward a short while ago! Will we reach a second stretch reward?
Great work guys! Now for the mounted board! This game deserves it
Congratulations! But we still need mounted board! :)
Congratulations! Is the Gettysburg Sesquicentennial on July 1st still a reasonable estimation in terms of delivery? It would be most fitting and welcome but being just 2 months away it seems optimistic. I know the game is pretty much in the can so to speak at this point but we all know how Murphy's Law works.
We just wanted to drop a quick note to everyone thanking them for backing Lincoln's War and MMP! There are still three days to go, but now that we've hit our goal the real work begins!
Congratulations on making the goal. Would have liked to have met the designer (spent 1991 - 1997 in Springfield, Illinois) at one of the local conventions back then...have been an enthusiastic purchaser at MMP from the beginning and haven't seen too many bad games from that company so the kickstarter route is a cool way to bypass the low pre-order numbers they were experiencing, and then deliver me a quality product...
Congratulations to the development team & MMP, it's good to see this one finally hit the goal! Now on to the $43.5K stretch, I think the "bio-briefs" will be a nice addition to the playbook.
Finally made it over 40,000. I'm super pumped for this game to see printing.
Only 4 more copies to go!
Yeah, Plexiglass goes over paper better than nonmounted cardboard. So very close now!
@Youse: Glad to hear it. I know a lot of people like mounted maps, but I prefer paper, especially to lightweight nonmounted cardboard. Plexiglas over a good paper map is a thing of beauty.
Something weird going on with the Lincoln Quotes - every time I paste/type one in Kickstarter locks up. Not sure if there's a max text per page here or not, but i've deleted the last three and added one new one.
Thanks, sounds good to me.
Patton55 - the map is priced out to be our standard paper map.
Only 15 more copies to sell to reach $40k
Thank you, Brian. Can you let us know whether the LW map will be a paper map or a map board like Kingdom of Heaven had? KoH had kind of that harder cardboard type of map.
John asked us about swapping stretch goals so we checked with the printer and the first reward amount will not support a mounted board, sorry. WRT a mounted board being offered in the future, I suppose it's possible, we really have not considered that for any of our games except ASL, but not something on our radar at this time.
I just don't understand the silence. I understand people are busy, but come on. How much time does it take to make a short comment to us backers? The last few days the game is limping toward the finish line and we are asking a simple question and nothing from MMP?
For me I like mounted maps because wargames are my hobby. You game at my house you drink beer out of English porcelain beer steins and roll custom dice into felt lined wooden dice trays. Chits are pulled from hand made draw string bags. Yeah I want the mounted map because I'm a snob. I love the hobby and want the best on the game table always.
