The word "Gurfa" in German means the amount of water a person can hold in one hand. I decided to name my new EP "Gurfa." The 6 songs I have that will make up this recording are a deep look down and up at the same time, an analyzation of what of everything I can actually hold in my own hand, and what is not mine to own. A look down into all of the doubt, and frustration, and confusion of faith, and belief, and relationship. A look up at the beauty, and goodness, and grace of Jesus and faith, and belief, and relationship. I write out of the most real places I am, and those places always land in my faith and in the rawness. I write to pose questions and allow for conversation and interpretation, rather than to make a song that tells you exactly how you should see, think, feel. I want to record these songs because I believe there is something more than just my skin and bones that matters. Supporting this project isn't just giving me some money so I can pay people to make these songs into MP3s, it's supporting a dream, a vision and a belief that I have crafted something here that won't pass by like fleeting social media, or be lost a year from now in a pile of CDs. I am making something that I want to offer, all the water I can hold in one hand.
Risks and challenges
The risk that you take in helping me fund this project is, I plan to take the time to put the work into these songs, so that the end result resonates, shakes, and shudders under the beauty and intricacy these pieces of music call for. I don't want to cut corners, and thank goodness I am partnering myself with people that believe in what I am doing, and have already pushed me to make this the best it can be in meetings and early recording sessions. All of the other prizes I have listed will be to you very soon as you help to support this project, but the recordings will be yours last, and that's because I am going to make sure they are exactly how they are created to be heard.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
