Harry The Happy Mouse - Children's Picture Book (Canceled)
A beautifully illustrated picture book with a message that teaches children that a little bit of kindness can go a long way.
Myself (N.G.K, the author) and Janelle Dimmett (The book's illustrator) started working together on this book in January 2014.
We had one goal, to write a happy, brightly coloured, cute rhyming book that promoted the idea of 'paying it forward' and helping others.
This project is perfect for Kickstarter! The theme of helping others to achieve things, and how a lot of individuals can achieve amazing things!
In the story, Harry helps a Frog who is in trouble, but instead of asking for something in return, Harry asks the Frog to help someone else. As we follow the characters through the story we see that one good deed turns into many, and a little bit of kindness can go a long way!
After we have followed the good deed, Harry learns about the effect his act of kindness has had!
Harry's wife then surprises him with everyone he has helped with his original deed!
The book is completely finished, and we have produced a few examples of the finished product by using create space, it looks amazing!! But the end goal for us is producing hardcovers, and getting them into bookshops.
We've gone as far as we can without further funding.
We have already established a large following on Facebook and Twitter, and have established a website in preparation:
Which includes free activity pages.
To give you as much confidence in this product as possible, we have submitted it to a few review websites, and the responses have been AWESOME!
Here are some of the reviews:
"What I liked best of all is the strong, positive message it gives of being kind to others by doing for them what they most need, and paying it forward."
"This is a most wonderful book with a great message for all."
"mesmerised by the amazing artwork on each page."
"A beautifully written picture book"
The money will be spent in the following ways:
Purchasing an ISBN.
Arranging for printing/producing the book (where most of the money will go)
Marketing the book. (I am qualified in, and have experience in this field, the money will be well spent!)
Depending on how much we make, I would like to donate copies of the book to schools and libraries.
I wanted to give our backers really good rewards, so a lot of each donation will go to buying and posting the rewards.
I will personally ensure that every penny/cent that is donated to help us is well spent.
Except the for the illustrations (Rewards 8,9,10) the items will be signed by the author. The illustrations will be signed by Janelle Dimmett (the illustrator)
If we are lucky enough to meet our goal of £1,500, and can manage to get to our stretch goal of £2,000, we would love to make a 'Harry The Happy Mouse' audiobook.
If we can meet £2,000 we will put an audiobook into development.
Risks and challenges
There aren't really any risks associated with this project.
We have completed the book.
We have made a prototype to eliminate problem with production.
We have tested it with some critics to ensure the quality of the material.
To produce the rewards and the books we do reply on a number of external companies, over which we have no control, but all of the test mechanise and books we've ordered have been delivered on time.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
