Let kids get creative & crafty with 4 fantastic, just-add-water, color cookie mixes. Your imagination, and taste buds, will go wild!
Our Kickstarter project will bring the delicious and crafty playtime fun of the world’s only edible modeling dough to the United States. It’s called Yummy Dough!
Invented and launched in Germany by our friends, Andrea and Stefan Kaczmarek, we are hoping to generate enough Kickstarter-excitement to manufacture this all-natural, tactile treat in North America! Currently loved by kids and adults alike in the U.K. and Germany, Yummy Dough brings the creativity of craft dough to a delicious, just-add-water sugar cookie mix. It's great for kids and kids-at-heart!
How Yummy Dough works:
Funding for this project will allow us to begin manufacturing Yummy Dough in the U.S., produce samples for retailers, and set up local sourcing/packing of the product.
What’s in a Bucket of Yummy Dough?
You get four, 4 oz. packets of colored dry mix (red, green, yellow and blue), a measuring tool and a spoon all in their very own mixing bucket!
Do you know what’s in your "dough?" You do with Yummy Dough!
We all know what “other” craft dough tastes and smells like, but read Wikipedia for their ingredients and you’ll be shocked to see what they contain. (Like borax and petroleum! Yuck!) The ingredients of conventional modeling dough contain coloring and conserving agents, fragrances, emulsifiers, lubricants, binders, hardeners, moisturizers, etc. Eeewwww! That’s why their ingredients are not listed on the packaging.
With Yummy Dough, you know what you're getting because the all-natural ingredients (ones you can pronounce like sugar and flour!) are right on the package! North American Yummy Dough will be made by an Oregon Tilth certified food manufacturer in the USA.
And here are just some of the creative creatures you can make with Yummy Dough:
Big Backers: See where it all began!
If you pledge $600 or more, you can meet the inventors in beautiful Idstein, Germany! (See the sidebar for details.)
Here are some pictures of our family visiting Stefan and Andrea in Idstein last Christmas. As you can see, it's amazing! You're just waiting for a Disney princess-in-waiting to start dancing and singing down the street!

The Back Story:
Yummy Dough was invented by Stefan and Andrea Kaczmarek after their two daughters asked for craft dough that they could play with as well as eat. It was first mentioned in a radio broadcast in Germany, which increased the interest significantly. Stefan previously had no intention to market the product but decided otherwise after the overwhelming reaction to the broadcast. Now it is enjoyed by children of all ages across Germany and the United Kingdom.
We, Lindy and Chris, became fast friends with Stefan and Andrea after sharing our mutual passion for tactile creativity for children and stories of becoming parent inventors and entrepreneurs. (We invented, manufacture and sell a children’s placemat & craftmat.)
We hope you’ll join us in bringing Stefan and Andrea’s dream of edible modeling dough to the United States!
Yummy Dough tastes like a shortbread or sugar cookie...depending on your grandma's recipe :o)
Of course, we don't want to give away the whole recipe here, but Yummy Dough contains shortbread cookie dough-like ingredients that are a bit modified to be a just-add-water dry mix. The ingredients include:
Wheat Flour, Sugar, Whole Egg Powder, Palm Oil, Starch, Sugar and natural food colorings.
Allergens: Yummy Dough is not gluten free and will be mixed in a facility that also deals with other allergens like tree nuts, soy, wheat and eggs.
You can create an entire baking sheet full of figures with one package. This amount is enough for 2 to 3 kids, depending on the age.
We recommend Yummy Dough for children older than 3 years, but its really up to the parents to decide when their child is ready to learn about baking, mixing and creating dough creatures.
The best part is that Yummy Dough is safe to be eaten raw so it doesn’t matter if pieces of it disappear into their mouths during the kneading and baking.
Yummy Dough is the recipe against boredom! The smooth, kneadable modelling dough can be shaped perfectly into figures and shapes. The baked goods can be eaten immediately after being baked or can be used as a small present. There are plenty of occasions on which it can be used such as: Halloween, Christmas, Birthday Parties, and Easter, Mother ’s Day or in the meantime.
Visit http://www.essknete.de/en/ for ideas! Everything you see on this site was actually created with Yummy Dough! It's amazing!
Yes, the colors can be mixed! The mix comes with Red, Green, Blue, and Yellow so it's fun to mix and let kids learn how primary colors make up other colors.
Already prepared, but not yet baked Yummy Dough should be kept in saran wrap or should be stored covered in the fridge. It should be baked however, within the next 2 to 3 days.
If you don’t want to eat the baked Yummy Dough figures yet it is best to store them in a cookie jar. This way they stay fresh for a few days. Figures that are intended for decoration or jewellery simply stay a little bit longer in the oven so that they are completely baked and hard.
Yummy Dough will be made at an Oregon Tilth-certified food manufacturer on the West Coast.
We expect to start shipping Yummy Dough in September 2012.
