The Tech Force Pen is a solid housing for the HI-Tec C Ink Cartridge. Extremely popular among architects, artists, students, and designers, the Hi-Tec C Ink Cartridge is noteworthy for its Ink composition and tip design. Another peculiar characteristic of the Hi Tec C Ink Cartridge is its fine line capability.
The Tech Force Pen comes with a sleeve that is etched with metric and imperial ruler indications. The pen glides into the ruler sleeve where it is held in place by pneumatic pressure. When puled from the ruler sleeve the escaping air makes a characteristic "pop" sound as seen in the video.

Designing the Tech Force Pen
I always had a passion for a good pen, as lame as that may sound. As a design enthusiast, I find my self behind the computer a lot nowadays, but I still love the feel of the right pen. I began with the idea of marring two common writing aids, and I began illustrating my idea to friends and a few of my-coworkers in the supply industry.
Minimalism was the core approach that I took when putting my idea to reality. The best ideas are usually simplistic. After finalizing the 3D design, I began to reach out to a few trusted contacts in engineering and manufacturing. I wanted to know exactly what it would take to make these on a large scale. I began by ordering prototypes; which is not cheap as some may know. It took me roughly a year to bring this idea from conception to reality and I am ecstatic that I have the opportunity to offer this to the world.

What does your pledge do?
The funds that we receive from our backers goes directly into the manufacturing of the Tech Force Pen and sleeve. As with any project, production becomes cheaper when the quantity of orders increases. Each pledge takes us one step closer to our goal of $10,000.
I have enlisted a machine shop and Co2 laser engraver In Northern Illinois to manufacturer both the pen and pen sleeve. This shop is equipped with several cnc mills and lathes. I have a long relationship with the owner of the shop, and have utilized their machines to manufacture the prototypes that you see here. The Tech Force Pen is shaped out of solid aluminum rod using a precision laithe. The laithe spins the stock material as a cutter moves perpendicular to the stock, cutting material as it steps in closer. If you have ever seen how a baseball bat is made then you get the picture. A considerable amount of effort goes into this step to insure the proper fit of the ink cartridge and the weight/balance while writing.
The Ruler sleeve is machined out of solid aluminum stock. This includes milling, drilling and surfacing.
Once the pen/ruler combination has been machined we will brush the surface or send it in for anodizing (depending on your order specification). The ruler sleeve is then laser engraved using a Co2 engraver in Illinois. Finally, the product will be packaged for delivery.

Risks and challenges
A large scale production facility in the USA has quoted me and provided an acceptable lead time. It is typical for production to encounter unforeseen set backs when proper planning has not been implemented. Consequently, we have spent a substantial amount of time preparing our production strategy. If any delay should arise in production we will provide our backers with timely updates.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
