Keep in mind that the consoles versions will come later than the PC one.
A bloodthirsty frenzy around a pizza and beer(s), what's best ?
CHOP, it's a visceral gameplay where bloody killings meet ultra fast movements.
Really accessible in its gameplay, it offers a real strategic dimension associated with a deep intense gameplay that will put your skills to the test !
One hit to kill, respawn almost instantly : CHOP is meant to give a feeling close to what you can experience in fast FPS such as Quake or DOOM, mixed with platformer setting and influences from Towerfall, Nidhogg and Super Smash Bros.
Blood and guts in a torn apart world, with a comic book vibe : it speaks to those who like gore, comics, post-apo and are looking for a supercharged party game.
The game is playable up to four players. Challenge your friend one-on-one or enter the fray. You can even team up and play two-on-two, or one versus three if you have the guts for it.
Eager to get back to the golden age of local multiplayer games ? To crush your friends after practicing hard on a skill-based and competitive game ? That's what Claws Up Games is all about.
We're a small French indie studio and have been working hard on this game for two and a half years. We already have a strong demo for you to enjoy. Now we need you ! With your support we can make the best game possible, with a lot of high-quality content.
The funds raised would allow us to offer you more game modes, arenas and crazy gory executions as a start.
We plan on releasing the Early Access version of the game in June. The final version should be out in October.
That's CHOP flagship game mode. Here, your goal is not to have the highest kill count but to escape the arena through a portal.
When you slaughter an opponent, your portal opens : your goal is to escape through it. If you get killed before, it closes and you have to kill again. Once you've reached it, you have to wait a short moment to be pulled out of the arena. You can't defend yourself and can get killed during this crucial instant !
Prepare to laugh and/or insult your buddies when one of these fuckers manages to kill you and reverses the situation to his advantage, just before you would have escaped !
This is what makes battles in CHOP so intense, any action can be a game changer.
In CHOP, you move fast. Plus, you can run on the floor, on the walls and on the ceiling where you can jump or even double jump from.
Attack a foe from the ceiling, seagull's droppings style, or move around a platform and dismember him with your bare hands, be creative !
You have various ways to kill an opponent, each one more enjoyable than the last.
- Throw your sword to impale your opponent and watch him get dragged away to the next wall.
- Dash and slice through him like it's butter.
- Grab him and tear him apart with your bare hands when you don't have your sword.
Or maybe grab this ridiculously big gun and obliterate all scumbags around ?
Thank god you can also defend yourself and counter your opponent attacks.
But if you're not good enough to master it you still can run around the arena like a headless chicken.
In order to spice things up, four different powers are available for your choosing.
- Callback : throw your sword and call it back in a devastating whirl that will shred all flesh beings on its way. Butcher style !
- Telekinesis : control your sword like a homing missile, feint and surprise your opponent by the back door...
- Teleport : teleport yourself (duh !) on your sword almost instantly, you sneaky little bastard !
- Double sword : two swords for the price of one, that's right. Icing on the cake, you can trigger a deadly laser between your swords.
With every power, you get your sword back in your hands almost instantly when you decide it. Except with the double swords that you have to pick up in the arena. Come on man, you got two swords already !
Did we say spice things up already ? Then this is a huge pimiento picante.
You can pick up bonus items in the arena to gain new abilities.
- Energy shield : get a protective aura. It shields you from one projectile (swords, bullets...) or dash. Yes you need it !
- Obliterator : your sword is replaced by a gun. We mean A BIG ASS gun.
- Neutrons capsule : these explosives become proximity mines when you charge and remote bombs when you throw your sword. Boom Shakalaka.
- Cryogenic fluid : Liquid nitrogen applied onto your sword. Creates an ice wave when you dash or at the point of impact of your sword and freezes everyone caught in it. Ready your mittens.
- Adrenalin shot : Some obscure substance allowing you to dash infinitely (normally limited to three with a cooldown). Some people call it the Bolivian cookie.
- Anti-gravity prism : An ancient artefact reversing the arena upside down. Feels a bit like a big shot of moonshine.
- Magnetic totem : Mysterious talisman dragging all the golden skulls to the one who touched it (Skull Hunter mode only).
- Pulsing heart : Gives an extra life (Last Survivor mode only).
Some bonuses interact with one another. For example, the obliterator combined with neutrons capsule will allow you to shoot explosive bullets. Adding cryogenic fluid to it will create an ice wave at the point of impact of the bullet.
Of course all of that is entirely customizable in the settings.
You can decide to remove a bonus or to start a game with such and such bonus.
How about an entire match just with guns ?
The goal is to catch the most skulls possible, before the time limit.
To do that, you must go back and forth to your portal to drop off the skulls you've collected on the corpse of your opponents. When you get killed, you loose all the skulls you were carrying, now free to be looted by your opponents.
Piece of advice : don't be too greedy.
No portals here. Everyone starts the game with the same amount of lives. You loose one every time you die. Once you've no lives left, you're eliminated. To win, you must have the highest kill count.
Be careful, you loose points if you accidentally commit suicide.
Whether you choose Rush Out, Skull Hunter or Last Survivor, there are different ways of playing :
- Free for all : Up to four players.
- As a team : 2vs2, 1vs2, or even 1vs3.
If you have no friends (bouhou), you can play against bots in five levels of difficulty.
You can play Rush Out, Skull Hunter or Last Survivor in classic or tournament mode.
You can have up to 16 pools made up from two to four players. Fun to play if you're a big crowd or, even better, if you're into E-Sport and want to organize your own competitions.
For him, torture isn't just recreational. It's an art ! Beware of his flimsy intellect, he might break your jaw by accident.
Set on enslaving you all, he brings in its wake a bloody and icy wrath.
After the destruction of the second sun, he was forced to come to Earth. His new goal : bless humankind in its own blood.
After a career in the military, this fierce warrior has been contaminated with a mysterious parasite. Lurking in the shadow, she now works on spreading the gruesome virus on the planet.
We really wanted to offer a great diversity of arenas. Not only by their graphic design, but also by their level design.
Each arena is unique and is going to change the way you have to play.
To reinforce the intensity of the fights, they are designed to force players to be constantly moving, with few places to hide.
Besides, we put several traps, like destructible platforms, moving saws, in some arenas in order to make it even funnier.
Did you say vicious ?
With more than twenty-five different arenas available for the game release, a match with friends will never be twice the same.
Ever dreamt of having your head cut off and placed on a spike ? Maybe it's just us...
Anyway now your dream can come true ! Give us a photo and our artist will sketch your face and we will integrate it in the game.
The Kickstarter's backers graveyard !
Feeling like achieving posterity ? Now you can.
Give us a photo in the pose you choose and we will give you a place of choice in the game !
Here's a sample of the game OST :
The team behind CHOP is made of six people entirely dedicated to make the development a success.
Most of us have been working in the game industry for 5 years. Some worked with big studios such as Ubisoft and Ivory Towers. We all love being indies, which is the best way for us to convey our passion in games we truly enjoy to make. We hope you can see the hard work and love we put in the demo.
Claws Up Games is an independant game studio founded by two French dudes. We love beer, couch games and silly gory stuff.
CHOP's development started in 2015. We've been working since then on our own funds, some of us full time, some part time.
The game is close to its Early Access release and already well advanced.
Getting funded by you folks would help us finish CHOP in good conditions, making the game more unique and fun to play with a lot of various arenas to choose from, original game modes, multiple bonuses and customization options.
We'd also be able to go to more exhibitions where we could showcase the game and pay for the whole communication campaign to make sure the release is a success. Spreading the word is not that cheap and easy, that's where can you can make the difference !
Risks and challenges
From the first prototypes, we progressively teamed up around one common idea : create a visually attractive experience, built on friendliness and skills.
The development of the game being already well advanced, we are confident that CHOP will get a release soon.
The hard part is clearly behind us, the several events where we showcased the game already helped us to balance and improve it. We had to iterate a lot, drop some ideas, make tough decisions. It hasn't always been easy but we are really happy with the result and hope you will too.
The very positive feedbacks from players, press as well as professionals confirmed the potential of the game. We are now focusing on adding more content and making the best game possible.
Validating the Kickstarter would highly motivate us and help us to offer you an even greater game.
Thank you so much for you support, let's do this guys !
