Hello Kickstarter,
Thank you for viewing our Kickstarter campaign!
WE REACHED OUR GOAL!!! Thank you to all of you who have reached out so far!!!
45,000 will secure funding for our ram press and our kiln! Now help us PUSH Anything over the top of this will help us with the following:
Air compressor: $2000 The ram press works with compressed air and machinery of this size requires a lot of it.
Clay Mixer: $4500 Using the ram press requires a different type of clay with less water than we use now. The clay mixer will allow us to continue to make our own custom clay bodies and colors.
Pug mill: $6000 Pug mills are machines that take the air out of the clay. It mixes the clay with large augers and pumps it out through a smaller hole creating round "pugs" that can be directly loaded into the ram press.
NEW ITEMS AVAILABLE!
Atelier Dion is a small scale, custom ceramic design and production studio, owned and operated by the husband and wife team of Jay and Rie Dion. Since 2011, we have been working with artists, designers, and small business owners to design and produce handmade ceramic pieces in Oakland, California. We met in Graduate school at California College of the Arts and began working collaboratively thereafter in what would become ATELIER DION.

For the Past 3 years we have been working our buns off to bring our line of custom ceramics to the Bay area and beyond. We have reached the point where in order to meet demand, we are going to have to add some new equipment. First, the Studio Press will allow us to make the amount of work in 1 day that would otherwise take us 3 weeks with slip casting. And the kiln will allow us to handle the extra production much more quickly and efficiently than the electric kilns we currently have.
We are offering you a new line of work along with some favorites to entice your support of our fundraising campaign. The 'Cobalt Line" of dinnerware is just for you! Clean and classic and designed to fit in any household. They're outgoing, so they will make friends with your current dishes right away! Please take some time to look over the gifts below!
Thank you for your time and support!
Hugs and Kisses,
Jay and Rie Dion

Risks and challenges
All new equipment comes with a learning curve. We will have to learn a new method of making molds to fit the press and adjust the storage and production cycles to accommodate the increased volume of work. This may mean longer hours for our current workers, or better yet hiring new people!! We are ready to meet the challenges that increased production will mean for our studio!
